This is the India that you dream about. Visiting the Taj Mahal, Agra in 2019 is an absolute must! It's beautiful, breathtaking and everything you could ever want.
Today’s episode is all about the Taj Mahal, one of the most popular Agra tourists places. We start our day off by waking up at 5.30am, to watch the sunrise over the Taj Mahal. Although it was hard to drag ourselves out of bed in what felt like the middle of the night, watching the sun come up and slowly change the colour of the Taj Mahal’s glistening marble was nothing short of magnificent.
#india #tajmahal #incredibleindia
Its easy to see why the Taj Mahal is one of the seven man made wonders of the world. It's a truly impressive structure. It's no wonder that it's' so heavily promoted across the tourism industry here in India. In 2019 alone, the Taj is expected to see over 8 million visitors.
Tips for visiting The Taj Mahal:
- It’s best to get there early to avoid the crowds. This is one of the most popular Agra tourist places and by 8.30am the place was packed!
- You can your tickets at the front entrance and entry inside is 1100 rupees
- If you can avoid it, don’t bring a bag. When you enter the complex, there are two different lines, one for people with and one for people without bags. The line for people without bags is MUCH faster!
Next up we visit the lesser known Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah or as its nicknamed “baby Taj”. The tomb is where Mumtaz Mahal’s (Lady Taj Mahal) grandparents were laid to rest and is said to be where the inspiration for the Taj Mahal came from. As it is one of the lesser known Agra tourist places, you will find it is a lot quieter with far less people who visit. A stark contrast to our sunrise Taj Mahal visit.
And to finish our day off we headed to our not-so secret Taj Mahal sunset spot Mehtab Bagh. This beautiful park is just a short drive from The Baby Taj and is the perfect way to end your day in Agra. It will cost you 300 Rupees to enter, but the Taj Mahal sunset views are totally worth it!

Sally And Ed Well, it is ‘incredible’ in the real sense... an entire temple complex CUT DOWN on a Rocky Mountain... yes it’s a SINGLE LARGE stone cut into temple from TOP moving DOWN... so much so that many believe it was done by aliens 👽 (believing that humans couldn’t have done it) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGOtnWd-g6mcrsU It’s a shame that we natives keep glorifying the invaders(Islamic and Colonial/Christian(evangelists and missionaries) )

Taj Mahal was never a Palace. It was built as a tomb for Mumtaz Mahal by Shahjahan the reigning king at that time of the Mughal empire, after her death. The name is shortened version of Mumtaz(j) Mahal. Shahjahan later in was later imprisoned by his son in a coup and upon his death was.buried next to his favorite wife at the Taj Mahal. It was never intended as s palace and it is a mausoleum for Mumtaz Mahal.

Sally And Ed Yeah it was built as a tomb or a glorified version of it, a mausoleum. It was never a palace or residence at anytime though 😀. The other one, Agra Fort, was the fort/residential building of the Mughal emperors.
