I remember once in high school when I was in Home Economic class our teacher was trying to open a jar of peanut butter but she couldn't because the lid was stuck. I smoothly said, "Let me show you an old Indian trick." I took the jar and put a rubber band around the lid and with that extra friction was able to open the jar. She said, "That's a real Indian trick!?" all impressed by this rubber band-lid hack. I said, "No, it's just physics" and we both had a good laugh about that.

@@tiffkungpoify I remember in the 60s you could drive around the Navajo Nation and there would be someone who looked to be 150 years old sitting on a blanket at the side of the road with jewelry spread all around them. No doubt all that was snapped up. You used to see pieces in pawn too or should I say out of pawn at the trading stores. Long long gone. Hence why if you sit outside a tribe that you can take a DNA test and show you have Native American blood and not be able to claim any tribe because like the Jews all our blood shares the same ancestry tather its North or South American and you can't tell on paper what tribe you would be from. I have it from my dads side. His mom liked to smash white guys but didn't want to live on the Res. She left as a teen in the 1930's. So I'm tribeless, I asked my dad what tribe is ours and he said grandma was Chumash but I don't have any proof I only met her once and she died along time ago.

Jokes aside, it’s so nice to find an actual shop run by native people. Here in Michigan, there’s an Ojibwa-run shop up near mackinaw. There’s a museum part in the back that actually talks about the tribe and their history. Ironic thing is they’re right next to an American appropriation-y “Native American” shop.

I recognize it. There are Spanish Mexicans and Native American Mexicans. And now mixed Spanish and native but they just call you all Mexicans. As a person with mixed ethnicity including Mohawk and Cherokee most people don’t look at me an see “native American” cause I don’t look like those Hollywood natives or whatever. But I see and know the native in others and myself. They tried to take our connection to our ancestors away so we are blocked from their gifts and knowledge. I’m glad u realized your ancestry.

It's a crime that people were divided when the US drew a line and said " that's Mexico, this is the U.S.". I know so many good people below that line. Those people used to freely travel across that line before it was there, we disrupted that and criminalized daily routines and rituals that were in place for centuries before. We need to restore the rights of these sacred people. Give back the land, here and in Hawaii as well.

Being half Navajo, our school would have a cultural teacher come in to teach us about the past. Our history. They would tell us the stories of long walk, hiding in the canyons, starving, cold, sick, and left to die. Yet they didn't. I sat in class being half Navajo, watching the coyote cartoons. They were in Navajo. They were the only thing I fairly understood. Being Navajo was my second language and Mississippi Choctaw being my first. I love those stories.

This is "Clerks" with a wildly Native American twist.... !!!! This is truly hysterical, as I'm compelled to laugh out loud by myself, but no, the dreamcatcher doesn't boost my WiFi ― I tried it already. Not many people understand our peoples sense of humor, as we Natives filled with loads of sarcasm. I've had some people dare to say, "White people must have taught the Indian's how to be sarcastic" ― My reply are along the lines of WTF are you talking about, if anything, we were overly sarcastic when we told the white-man to: "Stay and rest for a while" (translated into Native American) "Alright, stay the evening, but then get your sh*t together and leave tomorrow" When I studied at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), I bonded with a Souix Nation brother who had eight children and one more on the way. So, we both performed the 'Holy Native Speak' accent in a deeply spiritual manner, but believe it or not, we ended-up bonded with the Germans and Japanese students the best. I learned how to speak German from high school, so if, you can make a German from Germany laugh, then you've really accomplished a miracle. They would me how they loved the Native American Exhibitions in Berlin; however, they said we Natives were not very 'open' and 'friendly', so I had to reciprocate, in kind, with: "Scheiße.... !!!! ― Isn't that exactly what all your European neighbors say about Germany.... ??? If you want us to be friendly and open, just purchase a dream-catcher and the next day, ask for a refund." You boy's are hilarious and I love it ―

When he first took me to a family gathering he told me who his dad was then said a couple of the other men were also his dad and me not knowing was like “wait…you have a few dads what??” They said it totally with a straight face. Then eventually they told me they often don’t refer to their dads brother as “uncle” and just call them all their dad. Then they laughed and teased me about it. Was so funny

What's even more hilarious is that I once retold this story to a guy I knew in college and he got super mad at me telling me I was full of it and a liar. Lmao!! Michael standing there with a stoic smolder whilst waving a rattle in that woman's face xD amazing! When I was in the US for a long hiking/camping trip I went into one of those roadside 'Native' stores. They had everything..absolutely everything..besides water and Jerky which were the two things I needed. Instead I came away with a map, a rock of some sort and some sage of course. The quest for water continued until I came across a sacred petrol (gas) station.

Maybe the fellas were making fun of the way ppl use sales pitches in stores to sell products. I do not think they were attempting to insult Indigenous People from a different geographical area, bcz trust me on this , if those fellas came to my area of the U.S, then most of the.....locals... would label them as Latino or Mexican upon sight, always forgetting about the People that were here before their Ancestors showed up in the 1600's ( in my area at least ). So , I think they were mostly making fun of themselves. Woooooooo-saaaaaaaa 💚🌎🌏🌍
