@@SSSS-yy2yh Correct. We also have a lot of 4s that can play the 5. If we try to match other teams perfectly we’ll always be playing catchup. We will want a lot of those 4s on the court and this give us a way to have dynamic size, which the teams with traditional bigs will have a harder time guarding. There are pros and cons to both but you wanna have some different means of attack.

I would be very surprised if Obi Toppin and Jalen Smith are back this upcoming year. Jalen Smith is very good but he was unplayable in the playoffs and he played his way out of Indy in the regular season. As for Obi Toppin yeah the Pacers could bring him back but I would rather give Jarace Walker a shot rather than bring back Toppin who is basically a traffic cone on defense and is gunna command like 35-40M dollars. Obi is a great offensive player but his lack of defense REALLY hurt us in the playoffs. Also it's important to keep in mind Jalen Smith has to pick up his PO if the Pacers want to actually trade him.

Yeah I would much rather sign and trade toppin and try to get a bigger backup center than ijax. Like try and swing those two plus a second into a draft pick that becomes Edey or some other big? Kinda nuts but everyone hates this draft so you might be able to get a decent pick for those guys.
@_AVC_

You are 100% correct! I personally think he’ll pick up the option since this is such a weird salary year. The NBA is still slowly implementing its new structure and it seems teams are pretty weary of paying those middle tier guys. I hear ya on Obi as well. I personally think he has defensive ability, but you’re right the production was pretty poor. I think given Carlise has historically been a pretty solid defensive teacher that you can build a really nice defensive player out of him.
@greggberg
@greggberg 3 ай бұрын
Obi is not going to get 35-40m. You should know better. The max for Siakam is 42m. Obi will command somewhere around 15-20m, however his cap hold is very important considering the Pacers are flirting with being a luxury tax team. You have to sign your own guys or you lose that money if you’re over the cap threshold. If Walker develops I could see them trading Obi however letting him leave in free agency would hurt the team’s future even if he’s not a part of it.

Smith is turning down his player option, Siakam is here for 49m/yr, 4 years, which means pacers better off not signing Obi ($15-20 m to much for a bench player and place holder for Walker). Besides, Obi was only a necessary scorer once Mathurin got hurt. Better off elevating Tshiebwe (also former College PY like Obi), go out and outbid Nets for FA center Nic Claxton, trade Jackson (a 6’7” 200 lb small forward pushed to play backup center), sign FA sf Naji Marshall to back up Nesmith, and draft Mogbo at #39 and Hall at #58. Mathurin and Siakam only played a few games together since Benn got hurt soon after trade, these two will be great together since they both can get to the rim and get to the free throw line. Everyone else, including Tyrese, are too passive and settle for 3-pointers or look to distribute, only Siakam and Mathurin look to pressure defense….

I want the Pacers to keep Obi since hes a RFA we can match and obtain his bird rights. Jalen Smith will probably decline his player option and seek more money but we have his bird rights so we can probably give him what he wants. Bring back James Johnson, Kendal Browns contract has almost no guaranteed money so he could be used with a a ton of our seconds we have to send for a first round pick in 2026 that will open up flexibility to facilitate a trade now that we can send 3 firsts. I would want to package Obi, Jalen, multiple firsts to try and get another star. whether that will happen or not is yet to be seen. Jarrace is almost untouchable in trades for smaller stars, it would have to be a pretty decent star for us to consider giving up jarrace. As for the pick this year we really dont need it. The young guy is gonna sit on our bench and get no playing or rotational time and I dont want to draft someone to develop when we cant even play all of our lottery picks as it is. We should still have a little bit of money after Pascal, Obi, and Smith are all resigned to then add another player to a sign and trade if that can be incorporated.

While I think Smith initially loved playing for us. Idk, or understand why they didn't play him once he came back from injury. To me it says he's most likely going to opt out. He could easily double his money.. and even though I think he's still the best 2nd option at C/PF off the bench.. Pacers aren't making all the best choices when it comes to FA and player's in general at time's. Some they do very well on and I totally agree.. Then at time's I'm in complete disagreement. Imo personally.. I wouldn't have made a move on Pascal. When you have the #1 Offense in league history. You're developing all young talent at the PF position in particular.. They're playing a pace and space game.. I think you keep yourself directed at signing a SF, elite type player.. If you don't get him, then wait another year. Keep adding the best depth pieces we can through FA and the Draft.. But that didn't happen and as much as I feel Pascal is personally worth maybe about 23.5 mil.. He's most likely going to get close to twice that.. which is insanely ignorant to me. Seeing as the lack of great play on either end. His very mid all around. So to me it's completely mind boggling to even begin to want to process this bs.. He made us a little better Defensively.. oh wow.. 👏, Offense not so much.. We could bring in 3 FA's that are good defenders and multifaceted player's for that price tag.. Imo if you're getting paid "Superstar" money. You need to be doing Superstar thing's. In many more ways than one, not even two.. but 3 thing's at an Elite type of way while be well rounded at everything else.. frustrating. I'm honestly hoping as a fan. They can work out the chemistry issue's and find a way to vibe together. You hit someone mid-season with totally giving away two Starters for nothing essentially. Then lose your replacement Starter in Mathurin, only to gain Pascal.. That was very rough. We needed Mathurin more than ever. As a scorer, shooter, 2nd creator and most of all to drive the basketball.. We had no one cutting, we aren't getting out in transition.. We had to literally fight our fkn azzes off to even score a basket in all the playoff game's. When before we were scoring at will. Tough to go from the most exciting Offense since the Warriors and I honestly was even liking us better. Because we were also destroying the rim. Would have even more so had we signed Derrick Jones Jr., or Oubre last off-season. I kept saying it over and over.. They need to listen lol... no one does. But idgad. I'll say it anyways for those who like to read it. If any.. 😄 I'm a superfan. Can't help it.. I just felt it was a bit premature and more of a panic trade after not getting OG. Like oh, well we have to get someone.. Oh Pascal want's a Max contract.. Let's just ignore the fact he's slipped massively the last few year's. Is 30 year's old and won't be better in 2 year's.. oh and the team that also wants to get to where you are doesn't want to pay the only guy on their roster left. That has a solid piece and Star talent.. If he's still so good and worth it. The Raptors would have kept him on and simply went after a PG and a decent C.. Done.. ✔.. No, they wanted to move on from him.. They knew they gotten the best out of a player that was the 3rd best on a championship team 5 year's ago.. and has slowed down so much. That he doesn't play ANY SF AT ALL. He's a Small Ball C now. He doesn't want the ball. He consistently misses most of his shots. He will play 42 mins and get outscored and outplayed in every statistic many time's by a guy in Obi who's played 17 mins. 20 mins.. He had improved Defensively too. He was actually making huge progress. Before they brought in Pascal.. then it killed all the vibes... smdh. Obi didn't even get to play with the Knicks.. It's like dang.. we just get the dude and can't even give him and Jalen a year?? Bro.. wth.. and you just drafted Walker who no one thought would be able to play any SF minutes.. was even concerned for his ability to play SF and being undersized if they needed him at C.. lol. Yet even he started playing very well. Even at SF some at had some good game's. Then completely disappears. DNP every game. Yet you're playing Shepp every game. Even started some in the playoffs as a 2nd pick Rookie. Lol over your 7th?? Doesn't play even in the 2nd half of the season?? Let alone the playoffs.. Pacers are right about having a Superstar in Hali and we could win sooner than later... but not if we do the ignorant bs we just have. Because now you're saying let's completely bail and abandon a #1 best offense. Change the way we play.. and oh btw the guy we're doing it for.. 42.5 million if not more and he's not even in your future in 2 year's. When you truly become ready to compete.. and you gave away Smith, possibly Toppin. 3 1sts in the Top 20 basically.. lost Bruce and Heild.. Won't sign any FA's this year. Didn't sign enough laat year.. and still, after 3 year's. Going on 4 now, haven't addressed the SF position at all.. ignorant as hell... there's an entire list of player's I'd rather have over Pascal. For many reasons.. but let's pretend like he's an Elite Superstar.. okay 👌.. lol smdh. I know he didn't have it easy coming onto this team either mid-season.. but he is supposed to be a Superstar player.. You should see some demanding of the ball. Wanting to score, being efficient. Having at least games in between. Where you have a big game or two. On efficient shooting, but it's always the same.. won't go into it anymore.. but.. maybe. If they can get into the mid 25ish.. even 30. You could swing a couple picks to BOS in particular if anything. One late and one of a future year. For thwir 30th and try and keep the 36, or let them have that. Keep the next one.. Hope you can land a Jaylon Tyson, who I've honestly read more about than watched.. but number's don't lie and I've heard a lot of pretty good thing's. Even if he's more a Caleb Martin player.. He's very good and one of the player's I'd like to sign this year. If we can't get De'Anthony Melton who's a DR of 112., can create, shoot, drive the ball. Yeah he's only 6'2.. But not many know he has a 7'0 wingspan and for about 14 mil. You can have him, or about 12 for Oubre Jr(114.2 DR).. 10 or 12 for Caleb 113. They can all score from 3, play D, drive the ball, have some handle and will be the first guy leaking out in transition. I'd rather have De'Anthony Melton and Caleb Martin, or Oubre.. Try for 2 out of the 3. Then throw more money at a guy like Isaiah Hartenstein. To not only better our own dang team at Rebounding, having a TRUE RIM RUNNING DEFENSIVE BIG!! FOR ONCE.. Note that I've wanted this dude also since he was playing for the Clippers.. I said right away.. They made a mistake not keeping him instead of Zubac. Because I could see what he was becoming and that he was the real deal. Zu is good and was solid at the time. But he's definitely slower and hit his ceiling even then.. Maybe draft Jaylon or Baylor.. Bona or Missi.. Kolek. A 3rd could be a Bridges, Mintz, Dillon, or Cam.. Newton..idk. I'd like Bobi Klintman. But he's going too soon. Needs to work on becoming consistent.. But he has a lot of skill/potential and defensive ability.. and he tries to model his game after Paul George. Will he be Paul, no. But I like what he can be. I said we should have taken GG Jackson last year with our late pick.. what is there to lose?? We chose someone that I knew wouldn't develop anymore.. or most likely never play at all for us. It's like they look at only a couple guy's to draft. Not everyone, the 2nd pick always different from the need. Even though it will be a decent player. The. The rest it's like fk it. Hopefully getting Mathurin back, maybe another FA.. Probably only going to retain Obi. At least I hope. At best maybe they sign a minimum player.. But I'd be surprised if they sign anyone else at all. I thought maybe you could pick up Kessler Edwards on a couple mil. He's not much on Offense, but can hit occasional catch n shoot 3. Is 6'7, plays great defense. Is 23 and about a 113 DR.. Kings were 6 points better with him on the floor. Despite him not scoring the ball much or trying to. He could be another body that has some size. You can throw in for Nesmith when he needs a breather.. or is in foul trouble at least.. That in itself could be a big time move.. Small moves can be big moves.. if made right and fit a certain need.. Knicks have done great at that the past couple years. Never thought I'd say they have made better moves than us. Smh.. anyone thinking we'd beat the Knicks.. even with just OG healthy is crazy. Had he stayed in, we'd lost.. He completely shut down the bare minimum we'd get from Pascal. Dude wouldn't even attempt a single shot. Wouldn't even try against OG.

I haven’t made it through the entire comment yet… BUT… I wish we woulda played this year out. Let Buddy leave on his own, continue to hype of the best offense with the best young PG, add a 2way wing (cough PG cough cough) and let the young PF rotation play itself out… Jarace, Obi, Jalen… start, bench, cut. We rushed the “rebuild” by bringing in Siakam, we ruined the true true chemistry by trading our stars bff. Buddy could choose to leave, the team shouldn’t have done that. Messed Ty up somewhat I’d imagine. I’ve Loved Nembhards game since day two… day one, I questioned why was he playing over Ben. Then I saw Andrew Play. He can Hoop. Ben could’ve earned the role, but he also would have had it once Buddy chased a bag in free agency. It’s almost like the Pacers front offfice is competing against themselves… Draft Team vs FA team. FA teams “best available” is really…. Least likely to leave FAs!! Draft team says, is he foreign? Can we put him behind someone to learn/“humble em” (cause in 49 states it’s a game but in Indiana its blah blah blah) 😂😂😂😂 I’d bet if the team stayed together, let who wants to leave leave on there own (it may not make sense short term, but long term, it’ll work) whoever wanted to stay, stay!! Let’s run it back, take a discount and stay. Cause the team, city and fans want us here…. BUT NOPE, team just went and reminded the players they brought/kept together through trades and trade rumors (SHOUT OUT MYLES… Pacers Legend for handling that with grace for as long as he did) that it can still happen to you… it’s a business, but we claim we a family culture lol. imma stop rambling!! Shout out iJax, Nesmith, Shep and Oscar. I ain’t mention y’all in my rant, but I rocks with y’all!!! Go Pacers !!! 💙💛

@@stephenbutler8806 Love the passion! I criticized the Buddy trade pretty hard myself actually. I had the same thought, just let him play it out and when they keep having success just try 1 more time to convince him to stay.

so many great young players will be packaged out once the Pacers sign Siakam, it's a shame. The future was looking bright, now reality has sunk in. They needed to win the ring this year but their turnovers and choking got in the way. Now players have to go.

I don’t know I think they still have a lot of nice young talent by the end. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@_AVC_ It will all be gone because Siakam is due to get a max contract , siphoning all the Pacers ability to sign the raw talent that we had so much hope for. That's why you have to win when you get to the ECF and they had it right in front of them, Does anybody in their right mind think the Pacers can get by the Knicks in the playoffs? Uh, no, not really. The Knicks were battered and barely lost

@@dabneyoffermein595 I guess I’m confused why the young guys have to go? Or are you saying they won’t be able to target anyone else? Because they can totally keep the young guys on the team right now if they want.

We say please in these comments… 😂. Lol I did actually do the Lakers already. It was much earlier in the season though so I’m hoping I have time before the draft to redo them.
