We won 3 ABA championships in a row, but haven’t won since the merger. It sucks because being a Hoosier basketball is just in your blood here. We still hold all sorts of records for most attendance at a high school game, etc. etc. Basketball is huge here so it sucks we haven’t been able to win a title

1. Biggest missed opportunity: Malice at the Palace team. I attended Miller’s last game in the ECF loss to the superbly balanced Pistons. Still stings Miller didn’t get a chance with the full 04-05 squad. 2. 2013-14 Pacers shouldn’t have traded Granger. Started off the season looking great, but trading Danny Granger remains a major what-if moment in franchise history. Granger had declined on the court, but he proved to be the glue that held the locker room together. Team chemistry completely fell apart.

One often forgotten Pacers heartbreak in a postseason is 1995-96 season. Not saying they were dominant in the regular season but they were definitely on a good roll toward the end of the season and finished 3rd in the Eastern conference behind Chicago and Orlando. Reggie was in his prime and they had a great team. Of course that was the year just a few weeks prior to the playoffs those goddamn Pistons came into Indiana. Indiana we're on their way to a good victory until Reggie Miller plowed into Otis Thorpe going after a loose ball. I do believe Reggie suffered a concussion and a fractured eye socket. Either way he was forced to sit out the first four games of the playoffs which gave the Hawks a much needed advantage, and taking the series in five. Not saying Indiana would have steamrolled to a championship otherwise but they could definitely keep up with every team that year, so in my eyes that was just another missed opportunity

Not enough talk about the "Malice in the Palace" Brawl that took away possibly the best chance that the Pacers had to win a championship. Also, Oladipo's team in 2018 almost dethroned Lebron's Cavs in the first round. If it wasn't for a missed call by the refs in game 5, they would've had the chance to close them out in game 6 at home. They took them to a close game 7 series though. Oladipo was a #2 overall pick that they did well to acquire but a series of bad events has been the biggest reason the Pacers have never won a championship.

I still say our best chance was the year The fight in Detroit I feel like they hurt our best chances. But seeing how things are playing out this year if we keep it up I can see us winning a championship I’m hoping that this is the end of the super teams seems like the game is changing again….

Getting swept a few times recently sucks. McMillan is a good coach but his offensive scheme got exposed in the playoffs when the pace slows down. Heat had so much spacing with lobs and open threes, whereas Brogdon and Warren took difficult, isolation, long 2s. I attribute some of the difficulties in the playoffs to McMillan’s offense - new coach has totally revamped the style of the offense.
