Imagine being as beautiful as young Betty White but still being told you don't have the looks they want for television roles!! 🤯 Their loss, in the long run, Betty certainly proved her worth, how very talented she was, as well as funny, yet also humble, caring & open hearted in her approach to racism, LGBT rights & her live of animals. What an amazing woman; I had no idea what an amazing trail blazer she was ❤

I remember being disappointed that Betty White didn't live to her 100th birthday. It just seemed appropriate for a woman whose wit and goodness seemed like a superpower. Ah well. We were lucky to get the time we got with her. Dolly Parton seems like the only other celebrity that could even touch Betty's shadow.

I got a little choked up by her last words. I don't care what anyone says. Betty was pure genius as Sue Ann Nivens, who would utter the most insulting things between pearly white clenched teeth. I was a little kid when she played her and understood her character so well. Between her and the idiot anchor "Ted," I was laughing at adult humor at the tender age of 5."

Betty White was okay, but there were quite a few others who many found even funnier: Ann Sothern, Lucille Ball, Gertrude Berg, Joan Davis, Gale Storm, Spring Byington, Eve Arden, Verna Felton, Ann B. Davis, Marion Lorne, Edie Adams, Jayne Meadowes -- etc. As for as production powerhouses, Lucy fired up Desi -- she was the real power behind Desi's throne, which was to be expected since he had been a poor immigrant who more or less stumbled into movies, from his career as a nightclub singer and musician. Lucy was a dynamo in real life, ironic since her Lucy Ricardo character was always trying, without luck, to break into show business, which did sort of support the current stereotype of women at that time -- as for Betty White, I lived through that entire era and I never heard of Betty White until she played Sue Ann Nivens on THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW in the 70s and then, of course, THE GOLDEN GIRLS. If her show was ever shown on any Phoenix stations, I certainly never saw even one episode. Of course for the 50s we in Phoenix only had 3 channels until the end of the decade -- when another station started up......lucky us.......

She would have been a better co star for Lucy than Vivian Vance. Lucy, Betty and Gale Gordon would have been quite the trio.

@csailer23533 ай бұрын
@@lindaadams3622never heard of her? She’s not my favorite actress, and I don’t know about playing Betty White, but she’s been in a TON of movies (almost 75 at this point), most notably ones directed by Tim Burton, who was either married to her or had a very long relationship with her. She was his muse for a very long time, and he put her in almost every film he made. Ever heard of Harry Potter? Yeah she was in that series. She’s done a lot of period films, and often plays strange side characters, rather than the lead role. She’s a decent actress, altho again not a favorite of mine. Not sure she can pull off Betty White’s charm and quick wit tho.
