Big respect to Hardy for opening up, absolutely spot on about musicians being broken people. To give some psychological context, on topics which a lot of us suffered from which he has given in layman terms, hardy has experienced textbook “parentification” from his mother, which is where your covertly becoming her caretaker and role reversal takes place, and your childhood is simultaneously stolen from under your feet, because your caring for mums big feelings not your own. It is a form of abuse, parenting is one way. But not always intentional, but as the caretaker child it wasn’t your problem, parents have to look after themselves to look after you. Secondly, hardy is describing a state of “dissociation” to cope with his childhood trauma, this compounded with the “conditional love” he felt from his first love, his mother, is also why he doesn’t believe in unconditional love. If you will…she was only able to offer the unconditional love children should all feel, when she was supported. Thus I can’t be in a state all the time and be loved regardless, love is dependant on things, therefore it’s conditional (you subconsciously learn this as a child). Thirdly, most musicians are either highly narcassitic or have NPD which makes them very toxic people, and sadly means they often continuously abuse partners, narcassism is pattern that is developed during childhood and adolescence ironically as a protection from there core self, and true feelings. Fourth, intrusive thoughts are a key element of all Cluster B personality disorders, and if they aren’t controllable it is OCD where you think they have meaning etc. Also, his dad sounds abusive “old fashion” style which will of made everything worse. Coupled with child sexual abuse which is literally so awful ❤️🩹. Hardy sounds like a balance of all four, but a very very brave man to and strong to come out about all this. Big fuckin respect 👏🏼👏🏼 Hurt people, hurt people, truest shit you will ever hear in your life. Good self help psychological channels: - Richard Grannon - Sam Vaknin (NPD specialist) SHOUTOUT CHUCKIE!!! Amazing pod!

My bruddas, there's a lot of people moving around out here, not even realising they're broken or suffering from trauma. They just think that it's normal. Understanding where you're at, is the first step to get to where you need to go. May Allah guide and protect you on this journey. Big up Chuckz for this ep. EXCELLENT Pod Chuckie! You are reaching so many different demographics and people with different interests - from music, to money management to the psychological impact of trauma in the industry! Hardy was an inspiration to listen to and, may I add, the reason it all became clear to him at the age of 25 is because that is when the adolescent brain development slows down to a halt (at around 23/26 years old) and the adult executive - functioning brain kicks in, we become more prepared to cope and become more resilient with disappointments in the world. In other words - it was time for Hardy to know the truth as he was resourced enough at that time to get through it. Any earlier may have been to his detriment. Chuckie, you have such a compassion with your guests - you are respected, admired and loved for what you and your team are doing. 'Keep on keeping on'.

I have some questions around the black minds matter charity. I don't think there's an unfair discrepancy between white or black people in terms of getting mental health access. Maybe between working class or upper class, but not race. The likelier case is that the black community (especially black men) have way more stigma around discussing mental health and are more reluctant to use services than people in white communities. This is what I've found to be the case in my experience

I think the key word here is safeguarding. In healthcare everyone is responsible for safeguarding the patients but it seems that in the entertainment industry there is no level of safeguarding. Everyone is out for themselves and out to squeeze as much money as they can from the artists. So much so that artists mental and physical health declines rapidly in that industry. Why would a label take an artist to go see a therapist when them being in a tortured state helps them produce the music that sells, the artist using drugs keeps them loopy enough to not negotiate better deals for themselves and allow the label to siphon money off of them

I've only watched the first 20mins and will come back later to watch rest. But Hardy your being too polite bro. The way your handling it is correct but just know that I know your being polite. And I respect you for it. When you been through shit you understand more shit. These people your talking about are spoilt and selfish. They know they are taking the piss but they don't care because they are self serving. Best way forward is just shutting up and getting away from them. Trust me as someone who's been through it, talking is what these people want. Their looking for words to twist, conversations they can emotionally manipulate. Say nothing and let them ruin themselves. People who went through the most have a heavy heart and we are easily manipulated through that.

Obvs you got to this info through him, that's neither here nor there, but my point is that we say this, and we may even mean it fully but we don't do nothing and it sucks. We do need our own labels, and just us around us. Artists now are really trying which is good to see but we need more, in order to get control, we need power.

Labels are 100% funded and focused on their legacy acts. New artists are mostly just passion projects for the new young a&rs who get hired on a whim and will be out of a job within 12 months. Tiny money involved, tiny attention. Let’s be honest they know that the likelihood of signing another Ed Sheeran is very slim!! Because it’s so many factors at play. If they can squeeze one little hit out of the new artist then it’s a win

These kind of artists are always disposable as they have a tiny shelf life. They caught a wave with a sound that was temporary. They never built solid fanbases, never actually created good music and ultimately aren't that talented. Labels got them to make generic pop cookie cutter radio rap when it was the thing around 018/19 times. Times changed quickly and the sound/industry moved on. It happens. None of these artists should have believed there was any longevity in it for them. The likes of Ramz, EO, Hardy, One Acen, Wstrn (to a lesser extent) have all been left with mental health problems as a result. Chewed up and spat out by the industry.

I see what youre trynna say but realistically at the point these artists were signing they wouldnt have known for how long that wave/sound wouldve been mainstream. I agree they might heavily depend on this sound but the fact they have trouble adapting doesnt mean they arent talented
@kayceemxx2 жыл бұрын
You may have said it abit harsh but i definitely agree. Not to say the artists are not talented but the point you made with the specific sound only popping temporarily makes perfect sense and it leaves the artists in positions where they constantly tryna chase hits and the labels don’t put no money in to it and then the artists are in debt because they can’t pay back the money owed. Mental health is definitely declining after going through all that.
