Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

Love this guy!!! Father led me to him, and his sermon on the furnace of affiction. I felt like the sermon was written for me. Father delivered me from a 45 year addiction to alcohol, and pain pills. Once Father lifted me out of the trash, cleaned me up, and delivered me...satan and his demons got real mad!!! I will have 3 years in May, sober, and am on my fourth day of no cigarettes. I was the one sheep that JESUS rescued, and am living proof that Father did for me...what no man on earth could do...delivered me, and GAVE ME LIFE!!! AMEN & AMEN

I left the charismatic church and for many years, due to their abuses, I would cringe at the mention of the Holy Spirit and stop my ears from hearing anything concerning Him. Just recently, through sober preachers like CHS, I have begun to truly understand who He is and what is His ministry. I now pray the Spirit becomes to me as real and vital as Christ and the Father. I eagerly anticipate His power in revealing the Word of God to me and guiding me in the truth!

Sadly same thing happened to me caused me to be afraid of the Holy spirit. Would watch people claim he was causing them to be writhing wailing shouting etc. I walked away from all of it for several years. Through the word I learned and am still learning who the Holy Spirit is the absolute opposite of fear such peace through Him. God is good He sees the heart that is hungry for truth

yela bae ty, For most of my many decades my comment would be much as yours. I read, for years, at least one of CHS sermon a day. Later...even today in 7 decades I read (and listen too because of old age, health.) Martyn Lloyd-Jones' once wrote me to read all I may get my hands on, by Spurgeon. I found I also read all there has been in print by MLJ! CHS, greatest preacher in 19th century and I believe MLJ our 20th centuries greatest...what gifted preachers these men were.

I still cannot believe that this message was preached very over a hundred years before I was even conceived. I've got absolutely no idea how I came to stumble across Charles Spurgeons seroms. I become so addicted to listening to his preaching. It's the last thing that puts me to bed at nights. His message is so powerful and uplifting, am sure I dont need to attend church gathering because am not missing anything. Sadly but in today's churches it is more of a social club and a fashion house than a house of God.

I pray every morning on my knees in tears crying out to God to let me feel the Holy Spirit inside me so that I won't have to hear Christ Jesus say "Depart from me. I never knew you". I could not bear to hear that and I beg Jesus daily to fill me with the Holy Spirit and remove all desires rooted in the flesh from me so that I can draw closer to Him. I hear you, brother. The same here for me. I speak to the men every Saturday at one of the prisons here in my state, And I was telling them of the importance of this crying out to God daily for the infilling of His Spirit to empower them to live the life of righteousness and holiness as in the will of God, that they may have the power then, with the Holy Spirit outflowing from them with all that God wants to accomplish through them. They tell me they want to have what I have, and I tell them it comes to all who remain before God in all things, putting to death every sin that is still rooted in them until it has been crucified with Christ, and they desire nothing more than God himself, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the fullness of God that is in Jeshua. Many men at the time of Spurgeon were being inspired by the Holy Spirit to re-introduce back to the Church the importance of the Holy Spirit, just as at the same time, the Jews started returning to the land of Israel. The jews and the gentiles, being knitted once again in the Church with the same power as the Church had in its beginnings. Praise God!! Come Lord Jesus. Come.

Don't worry much about feeling, examine your life, see whether the Holy Spirit produce fruit or not. Feelings are temporary, the biggest sign of the Holy Spirit is power, to no longer walk in the way you walked before. I know this because I experience it daily, so many things which changed in my life. God does not work the same way in every person's life. Keep on crying out for God to fill you with the Holy Spirit, because this is continual, those rivers must keep flowing, therfore God keep filling us with His Spirit.

You know, that is such great insight. I hadn't thought of that. It is better for the Holy Spirit to dwell with us, each one individually, carrying God's presence than if Jesus was here in His bodily presence - because if God was in His bodily presence, there would be so many people around Him, that very few would be able to actually be close to Him. Whereas, with the Holy Spirit, He is in us and with us constantly. The spiritual aspect allows for that kind of close intimacy with God. The Holy Spirit filled that void after the bodily absence of our Lord

How have I never known about Charles Spurgeon. 4th sermon I’ve listened to. I’m humbled by this beautiful love this man had for the Lord. Since I broke my back I’m home alllllllllll the time. This helps so much to give me preaching time. I love this. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of Spurgeon before now. I had no idea. Whomever is doing the speaking is making me feel like I’m sitting in church hearing this man. I googled him and found he died before 1900. Amazing to find this on KZbin. Actually how is this on KZbin? Did he write his sermons down? Regardless I love this sermon so much.

I read Spurgeon since 22 years old (conversion in 1966.) He had no microphones of course (B. 1834-D. 1892) bur several short hand secretaries took down his messages and he perused them, had them printed (62 vol available today, plus books he wrote himself.) I believe he the greatest sermon since Apostle Paul. Go to "Banner of Truth Pub," online, at "Banner of Truth, P O Box 621, Carlisle, PA. and get CHS' 1892 sample volume of his last years sermons. Put "attn: Beth W...say "Wally L from WI sent you...she may give a discount and ask for book list of Banner...you will never be the same. Spurgeon's 2 vol auto is there too. Priceless! When we honor the word of God by reading the word of God we honor the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit inspired the word of God and so we’re showing respect for his work of bringing the word to us through the prophets whom he inspired

The truth of God's word said in the way that it should be told according to the word of God. Charles was truly a spiritual Man, I once heard of him from D.L Moody they were great friends back in those days when he visited London, I keep listening to his messages and I can tell you that they are very inspiring and empowering pointing only to the cross where our redeption and salvation is found. Keep up the good work, the Lord Jesus Christ will reward you for such a wonderful work from Christian sermons.
