Well, let's say we have the wonderful world of Jeff Booth. Bitcoin reigns and we have constant deflation. Some disadvantages: Who keeps the unemployed? Technology deflation causes unemployment. Its ultimate end is that no one needs to work. But it has no mechanism to distribute. You might be willing to do any job and, however, fall by the wayside. Whoever has bitcoins doesn't need to risk them in new ventures. Why would he or she do that? In Jeff's world, bitcoin revalues proportionally to deflation. Who is going to create new businesses? Sure there are advantages: the Italian and Russian mafia don't need to commit crimes, it is enough for them to sit and wait for their bitcoins to appreciate in value. There is no government (or if there is one, it has no power), and there are no taxes. Whoever has more bitcoins rules. See the previous point. That's the marvellous new world? Current governments with fiat money might be awful, but at least we can vote them off.

Agreed. We’d still need a mechanism for distribution. Hence, bitcoin doesn’t solve everything, it merely sits at the bottom layer of society to allow us to get off the hamster wheel and start solving more difficult problems.

Seems more informed on some areas than others. Love what he says about finance, but he's lacking info in climate change.
