Injustice 2 died because zoning is a cancer! No salt I believe in getting good but who wants to play cat n mouse every match? I found myself getting frustrated AFTER WINS because I had a genuine distaste for my cowardice opponent play style. Bad for my energy. ✌🏽

Paul Nelson the problem with the zoning is you get pushed back full screen. The screen is also I think larger in Injustice 2. evasive rolls or straight up garbage in my opinion I don't even think it's worth considering as an option for a bar of meter for what it offers by the time yiu recover you just get jabbed and do a full combo and lost a bar

@@diobrando5896 i say the same thing for the air escape. Spend 2 bars of meter that doesn't always put you in a safe escape and sometimes places you in an accidental combo reset mid air. I totally hate the cross up system bcuz it ruins good and common sense blocking with a bogus hit.

Ive always had a fun time vs zoners because it felt so good to beat the crap out of them as a bane main but yea you need a lot of skill to beat zoners to meet them at their game ive had my share of supergirls and Dr fate and supermans but the only character I had trouble was black canary XD

tried my hardest to keep this game interesting to me, even picked up a couple characters to spark my interests, but unfortunately even with the intro of a meter burn roll (which doesn't work half the time) to counter zoners it still wasn't enough. the zoning in this game was enough to end it for me, if i'm playing a fighting game i want to fight somebody, not play a game of walk away and throw out projectiles and have me constantly chase after you. it's boring as hell and extremely infuriating

The only issue with the spam/zoning in injustice 2 is when you think of DC chrctrs. For example Superman vs Darkseid, just those names vs each other knowing DC lore just speaks epic fight. In the actual game that epic fight is reduced to just shooting eye beams from opposite sides of the screen. It's the worst design ever as far as action and actual chrctr action. Two of the most powerful chrctrs of all time just shooting lasers or by design are gravitated away from upclose, fist to cuff, action packed fighting.

I still play mkx bc its so fun. Everytime i get on injustice 2 i play one multiverse event and then i get bored immediately. I play injustice 1 still bc its still fun. I love using regime superman bc he looks awesome in the first game, i also still watch walkthroughs of the story and play it myself. Injustice 2 he looks like a dead beat dad.

A boring zone meta and literally no content added in too long made Injustice 2 hard to remember if you ask me. I mean it didn't have a legacy name to keep it going like street fighter or mortal kombat, it had no way to keep players there when the story was meh and multiplayer was not fun the majority of the time. I don't know, looking back Injustice 2 had very little keeping people playing who weren't determined to get good at it.

I've been playing in 2020 and walking back and having to chase enemies is still a thing, super annoying. Played a Cyborg player and that was the most boring annoying and long match I've ever played in any fighting game.

Zoning, the level 30 cap, repetitive characters, and definitely the gear stats made me drop this game for months. I do love this game, but it really does have it's problems. It just became so much more annoying to play because of how many people used zoning to win a game. Lvl 30 cap and the stats made it unplayable for me now, it took me a while to get my characters to level 20 but when it got bumped up to level 30, it took sooooo much longer. I just didn't want to invest my time in to that anymore. Also the stats like you mentioned have been the worst since day one. It's annoying that your skill doesn't match with your opponents stats. You can be laying so much work into your opponent, and won't get anything. I also felt like I was getting no competition from how many people just kept picking the same characters. There was no one using someone different, it would be a lot of top tier characters that I was already used to fighting. I wish I had more people who picked Swamp Thing, or Firestorm, or even Bane. Just more characters that don't do shit like zoning. It just wasn't fun anymore. I'd definitely come back, but not for long

Darksied, superman, Batman....eventually I just went on to fighting games that are just fun to play. Tekken and dbz are fun for me and there pretty balanced, especially tekken. The emphasis on defensive and zoning is what made the game unappealing to watch but everynow and again, you have Catwoman and Bane that should be a test of testing range and being predictive about grabs. When the best option is to walk back and not try a mix-up and test your opponent's wakeup options, then what's the point in any rushdown/grappler character? Yes, the game has an amazing tutorial but I've just realized how much the combos are reproduced despite starting differently. But at least in MKX you have restands from the Demons of Scorpion or Butcher Leatherface or even Metallic/Lava Tremor. At least you can work around beating wake-up rolls. And because of the defensive meta, the game has become extremely slow... slower than MKX and Injustice features comic book characters. For how much I appreciate the diversity and character customizations and its excellent tutorial, I still have more fun picking up a character in MKX and figuring out new basic stuff based on the tutorial of IJ2... and at least having the camera a little closer allow me to see what's going on. Too large stages? Yes and this is why the "Zoo" is the better one except for Red Sun Prison (with its 60 FPS transitions). IJ2 made me understand MKX better and that shouldn't have not been the case and there's a revival of MKX because... people are playing it!

Super, there is a simple solution to fighters that want to consistently walk back the entire match. All you have to do is use a character with an innate teleport ability such as Atom, Darkseid, Raiden, Scarecrow, or Supergirl. It works like a charm. Please don’t give up on IJ2. I love your videos. Aquaman doesn't have a lot of mix-ups, meterless launchers aside from the very slow back three (which every character has) and his slow back two i believe, other than that he has nothing. He is a defensive character indeed and a noob friendly one, but he gets outclassed easily! He has no mobility, his zoning options are punishable, unlike other characters out there (ahem Darkaseid, ahem black adam etc.)

You know what? As much as it interested me initially and I was excited at the prospect, the grinding for gear and leveling characters up portion of the game actually.....kinda killed it for me. There were also a ton of characters that excelled at zoning, which is usually a bit annoying. A lot less actual fighting went on in this game than like, MKX for example. Mechanics. After really branching out and trying out different FG franchises like DBFZ, DOA, Tekken, SCal, or even SFV, Injustice is really hard to go back to. It’s pretty stiff. And I don’t just mean animation wise. It’s still a ton of fun and a fantastic package with a hell of a story but over time I found it didn’t engage me as much as other FGs.

I also love how people automatically assume you don't know how to deal with zoners because you hate to play them 🙄 it's not that, it's just boring. You have to play zoners like they're boss fights. Imagine if you're playing through a fighting games story and every fight is a projectile fest...you never really get to let loose with your character because you always have next to no meter or you need it in case you need to roll. That's boring as hell. These new fighting games are slowly focusing LESS on story and more on online communities so naturally, knowing there isn't much to do except multiverse or infinite cheap boss fights online killed the games longevity for anyone that doesn't have fun playing zone types 😶 that means hundreds of thousands of people couldn't play their favorite up close and personal superheroes or had to adjust to a very unfulfilling play style to do so. Zoning is easier to learn so more people do it which in turn creates more zoners...it's a legit tactic but balance should still apply in an era where shifting seasonal metas are more accepted and available than ever.

I love gear as a concept making every character look different. But execution was terrible. Fear should not alter your characters abilities nor their stats, cosmetic only. I think they should have done variations in characters again like in MKX. There's a lot of cool moves I never see in multiplayer because I DESPISE gear stats I always play on competitive.

Db fighterz is so much more fun to play and watch because of their balance within characters. Sure they add like 5 gokus, but they are all somewhat different and unique in their own way. Defending in the game can be skillful because of multiple assists and fast hits from some characters. You can also vanish behind the characters to close gaps unlike in injustice. It’s also so much more slower compared to fighterz

This game just became an absolute chore to play. 90% of matches revolve around one person chasing another around the screen, then when you finally get it, you get knocked back to fullscreen again from a single move. It was just completely boring. I was so excited for the Ninja Turtles, but the gameplay was just so stale and terrible to play that I had lost all interest in ever picking up this game again.

I completely agree. No one really likes to play offensive anymore. I recently tried to pick up a new character (Doctor Fate) because I saw someone playing AMAZING offense with him in KOH, but whenever I go to select him, other players just leave because they assume I'll stay fullscreen the entire time and zone. Which I understand, because I never want to play zoners either, but no one even wants to give it a chance so I'm kind of just stuck with my old mains. How the damage is dealt out makes the game so frustrating. Even on competitive mode. I fought a Brainiac once who just kept doing that stupid giant laser thing, it pissed me off so bad.

Yeah the combo system is pretty much the same. It's easy to figure out because all you have to do is find where your back 3 fits in and go from there. You have your 30+% combo. Rare cases like Black Manta have other ways to combo but it's very few

No, good points but not solid points for one he is clearly biased toward mortal kombat it's a great game just not comparable. There very different games especially factoring in how important the bounce back effect is in injustice it's more comparable to tekken. Where bounce mechanics are actually present also gravity feels close to injustice. The combo system in injustice doesn't feel the same to me the fighting styles are very varied, of course we have similar characters but no actual clones like mk had. The lack of definitive gear style is true yet that wasn't the point it's hard to balance individualism with style because you will end up being the same. So they opted for randomly mixed gear not a fan, but still this was the purpose design wise for injustice Individualism .

The reason that the player base fell down for Injustice 2 is cause NRS don't support their games for any longer then a year. If it got continued support, it might have a healthy number in it's player base and people would still be playing. It is a shame cause NRS make really solid games and they waste their opportunities by not taking full advantage of the advice the player base gives them to keep their games alive. If you look at SFV that got off to a bad start when it first launched but it has a good business model that keeps players happy and gives the developers revenue by giving players new characters and content and that game has been out nearly 4 years. NRS have the potential to keep their games going if they took a page out of capcoms book and if they did that, we would probably still be getting content for MKX and Injustice 2 today.

Dragon ball fighterz has a much bigger player base/fanbase because it rewards offense in a multitude of ways that other games just don't. Walking forward builds meter, you can burn meter to teleport behind your opponent, at the risk of being punished, basic projectiles can be dashed through....This makes it a much better spectator game

%100 agree with you. Not just fighting games, this is true for all games. After some time you see that every single game is the same. Different story, heroes, places etc. does not change the basic/core point and achievement of the game. Racing games, shooter games, moba games, sports games... All same. I am not enjoying any game atm. I am just killing time with games. (Perfect graphics, cool voice acting, and other stuff like these do not impress me at all.)

I think it's natural for any game to dwindle away and get boring after awhile. New games come out and people move on. I only bought the game a few months ago and I've been playing multiverse pretty steady. I played 1 online match once I felt confident that I wouldn't get embarrassed. I didn't even use my best character...I used Red Hood and faced Swamp Thing. The guy opened up with down back 1, the log kick and just kept spamming it. Caught me 3 times in a row before I realized it was all he was going to do. Once I started blocking and counter punching him he did other stuff but as soon as he hit me he went right back to the log... until he lost. But now I'm starting Spiderman and God of War and I still have to play South Park so Injustice 2 days are numbered.

I agree that the gear system was a little less than ideal too. There's about 4 different looking pieces that are recycled 100 times. And the gear bonuses is a nice idea but it ends up being pointless because they put a bonus on a set of say +100 strength for 2 pieces and then 100 ability for 3 and so on. But then the base stats for those pieces are made to be more than 200 lower than others. So equipping a whole set doesn't gain you anything.

This is exactly how I feel about DBF most players just walks back or crouches just so they can spam the down heavy, no combos are being done just people walking backward with 0 counterattack’s, just assist and sit in the corner. Not to mention the hotboxes on laggy games, I have a game clip where a vegito shanked me with his nair sword across the map and I was behind him. The dash in the air doesn’t even mix, people characters automatically turn around as well as on super moves. The combo strings are always the down medium start ups too. You can end any combo in that method. People are getting plus on vanish but when I do the same, I get punished by an auto combo. All the KZbin teams and combos are getting dull. The ranking up is still random, I beat this guy 3 times, and I get deranked from him winning once. Not to mention getting punished by vegetas down medium while doing my burst. Combos being interrupted by random bursts. It’s just so stressing. Not to mention those are the people that teabag the most.

It’s dead because the gear/level system sucks for the casual audience who doesn’t have the time to get everyone to level 30 and for the competitive play for tournaments, it also makes costumes much much harder to get, as compared to MKX, the DLC hasn’t been updated in a year, and the zone/rushdown combo is soooo out of proportion

Its not just the players, its the engagement in general. Injustice get almoust no atention in tournaments, and litle hype from the spectators. And this "Fighting games only last like a year anyway" is completly bulshit, Tekken 7 have 3 years and did you saw this EVO? People got completly NUTS with the Tekken segment, the game is a blast to bolth play and watch to this day. The problem is that NR create a model that they make fighting cames with REALLY low life spam, just 2 years per game, thats INSANE, just look to any other company (Capcom, Nanco, ASW, etc...), they have HUGE gaps betwen they releaces, givin a LOT of life to each of theyr games (just Street fighter had 8 years betwen SF4 and SF5)

I bought the Legendary Edition a couple months ago when it was on sale for $30. Never had any intention of playing online, I was just getting burned out on Smash Bros. and I wanted something where if I needed to get out some aggression I could hop on for a few matches and beat the stuffing out of something. Starfire is my favorite character, just doing one or two Multiverse events a day I've got her to level 29, and I'm starting to look for another character to pick up once she hits 30. I'm having fun with it, and enjoy watching your videos, but it's your channel. Do whatever you enjoy doing, I'll still watch.
