so in the retinol product, 1% RetiStar stabilised Retinol, which is retinol mixed with tocopherol, sodium ascorbate and PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil in caprylic/capric triglycerides. This means that the actual retinol is only 0.05%, not 1% (source). Was that a mistake when you say this product is a bit too strong for beginners?

Kaolin mask too. And her overall thoughts on the Q10 isn't clear. The active ingredient is Ubiquinone which she says is in the therapeutic range, but then says the peptides are too low. But the peptides aren't the active ingredient so I'm not sure that matters.

I love that your videos are not the same "research" being quoted over and over by every skin care "specialist" on KZbin..finally someone who actually understands the problems people with skin of color deal with..thank you ! There are some skin lightening products by The ordinary, Inkey list, and Good Molecues that focus on Arbutin, tranexemic acid. Can you review those. I'm guessing many Caucasian people may not have used those products as much as others, and that's why they didn't make it to the top 10.

The Inkey List Retinol Serum actually contains 1% Retistar, which itself only contains 0.05% pure retinol, and 0.5% granactive retinoid. Therefore, it is actually perfect as a starter retinol for sensitive skin users. Can be confusing if you don't pay attention to the ingredients list!
@shanchitaroysorno7181

i was thinking the same, i went to their website, and it says 1% Retistar . then I got confused with dr. V,
@auricia201
@auricia201 3 жыл бұрын
I also came here looking for this comment. I've been researching this product and saw many reviewers saying the same, that it is actually a 0.05% retinol. But this is IL fault, really, since they don't disclose that % in their website, only state the 1% Retistar.
@auricia201
@auricia201 3 жыл бұрын
Also! 1:00 I don't get it. Everyone I see talking about Retinaldehyde (dermathologists on youtube) say it is more irritating than Retinol, which makes sense, since it is only one conversion away from retinoic acid. So, I'm confused, how can it have ZERO side effects. Am I missing something?

I just threw out an almost full bottle of glycolic acid toner that I thought was a holy grail until I heard your views on its effect on Asian skin. I wish Inkey List Bakuchiol was reviewed as well. I have read articles that say bakuchiol is an alternative to retinol but has no sensitivity or adjustment issues. Maybe in a future video bakuchiol can be included? I love the calm and pleasant presentations filled with so much information. Bravo!

That was too strong for me. For some reason it irritated my skin. But I love the face theory bakuchiol, no irritation at all.

About the the retinol, it's actually not that much to potentially cause irritation from what I hear, though I'm in no means an expert. I hear it's actually less than 1% RetiStar, (don't know how it's spelled), a form of retinol. In fact other users had gripes about the brand not being straightforward about the level of retinol that product has. I think it also has bakuchiol which is an alernative but more moisutrizing? ANyway, lovely video and I hope you find this comment interesting!

Thank you for the info regarding the retinol, I have acne and use adapalene and have done for the last two years and this has helped a lot. The vitamin C I use if from timeless but use it in the day as I believe you shouldn't use vitamin C and Retinol(adapalene) together. I use the Inkey hylauronic cid and love it

@@dynamitedynamite2737 My acne has cleared but I still have to put in work to maintain it. It takes a few months before you notice any change and I was one of the lucky ones who didn't experience the "purge"

Selina Smith could it fade hyperpigmentation? Did adapalene bring up acne from under the skin ?
@smiths698
@smiths698 4 жыл бұрын
@@dynamitedynamite2737 well, because of the way it works and increases cell turnover it should do. I would say there has been an improvement and little but not a huge amount. The key thing is sunscreen. When I was prescribed Adapalene my doctor didn't explain it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I went for a whole year without wearing sunscreen 😕. Don't make the same mistake as me.

Hi Dr. V, your videos are mind-blowing and get me to realize I've been doing my skin wrong and now dealing with the pigmentation issues because of it, and also I mostly work outside/at the field. This brand (The Inkey List) also has the product namely alpha-arbutin brightening serum and as you ever mention this particular ingredient is good for hyperpigmentation treatment (plus to combine with Niacinamide), I would love to know your opinion. And thank you for doing this, I'm sure you help a lot of people understanding their skin treatment especially those not living around your area (like I do :).
