Ironically enough, I have a cat that used to think she was a human. Tried really hard to copy everything human do. Then, one day, she saw other cats and had an existentional crisis. Still is an outcast amongst family cats (by her own decision), all these years later.

an interesting thing is cat's on ships only really stopped recently, it was basically the norm for the longest time to have a ship cat or 2 or more, the egyptians had them, pirates had them, vikings had them, along with superstitions of them predicting the weather (when the cat went and hid somewhere you knew to ready up) they were amazing at killing rats which would spread disease, eat food you needed for travel and trading as well as chewing on the ropes and wood and in later era's after wooden boats would chew on rubber door seals etc so a dedicated friendly fluffy rat killer with a free morale boost was a pretty OP bonus to any ship. and they'd give sailors companionship who they had no reason to get pissed at or owe money to etc during long journeys and were always well liked and seen usually as essential because they were believed to bring good luck, no self respecting ship wouldn't have a cat and there's a lot of stories from ships cats from ww1 and 2 and archealogical evidence from well before then too. i just love the thought of some big viking mfers coming back on the ship and all immediately running to the viking name equivilent of "mr fluffles" to stroke them.

The only reason we stopped was because of new port regulations. The us navy still could, if granted permission from the commanding officer, have a ships's cat. They only thing is that te cat would have to be confined to the ship during port calls

i have a cat called breadless (because he makes no bread) and once he moved with us to our new house in the countryside, he equalized everything, hes a black short hair cat (random mix of whatever the fuck), and hes fairly small aside from being buff as fuck. There were cats in the area, but we followed him around his territory before, and by god he's taken all of the real-estate, he beats the shit out of any cat that enters the area.

I just came back from sitting 3 cats the other day. One of them is a kitten (Paco) who's a complete menace but he's so cute lmao. He's in the everything that moves is a toy age. He also has an obsession with the sink, whenever I turn the sink on, he runs to it and just stares at it like it's magic.

fun fact! cats essentially domesticated themselves! in that cats are basically only one step away from completely wild animals, while dogs are a rather wide departure from wild counterparts. also there is much less records of us selectively breeding them, but there is quite a bit of documentation to show that cats just sorta started being friendlier and ended up pets over time.

You don't know cats. Cats want you to respect them and their boundaries. but since we got teached over generations that boundaries only exist for the adults and (if you're already an adult) older people that you, we thrown this concept of respect and boundaries aboard. Which is why we disregard cats as unloving and uncaring, because we think intruding somebody's space and burning boundaries down is a proof of love, when it's not. Repecting a cat and meeting them at their term will in exchange give you one of the most loving and affectionate relationships you can ever have. Also, you can teach cats tricks. even with out food. Because if you praise a dog, you praise him because he wants to be liked by you. If you praise a cat, it's because she has the confidence and knows she did good. and she's doing you a favour. Which, again, is more of a proof of a good relationship. You're not telling anybody "yes" if you get asked if you can come for the weekend and help them to clear out the house and move across the country, for a meager pizza, do you?

You said you had a cat named Charlie and he had a mustache, I had one too, he had the same name as your cat, we found him outside of our house so we adopted him. As me and my family left the house(except my aunt), he sadly died, I think he was sick before dying but despite that, he was very young 😭 (I'm also very sorry for what happened to your cat😢)

women being attracted to cat owner man is truth. Every women around me except one feels the same and one explanation to it has to do with boundaries. Cats are never a people pleaser and majority of them are not very trainable like dogs are. Basically they do what they wanna do, and they never let humans to cross those boundaries. Neither toys or food are a foolproof motivator for them to listen to you, if you dont want your cat at the kitchen counter they will get on it when you are not around. These are just a few examples but getting back to the point now. Men who has cats are more likely to understand boundaries. This is a very important quality for a partner, and highly attractive. To be respected, for your partner to understand no. Long story short, man with cats are mmhhmm.

This is why I prefer dogs. Between my allergies to cats and just finding dogs to be more loyal and far less moody. Plus I don’t know why but most cats seem to dislike me anyway, though I will admit my dad had worse allergies and experiences with cats in his childhood than I did.
