The fact that “everyone’s a feminist until there’s a spider” didn’t make the cut is absolutely criminal. Glad to see it now Bo, great work as always. To commenters: I understand why it didn’t make the show, especially considering the focus on existentialism and other big/depressing topics, and 5 Years is more straight comedy. I was simply observing that Bo is one of those special artists, where his cutting room floor is littered with gems.

Obviously, the version of "All Eyes On Me" that eventually made it in is phenomenal, but there's something very cool about the alt version included here. The double-tracked vocals singing different (but complementary) parts, then coming together for a short time, then diverging again gives it this sort of ethereal feel. Not to mention that layering synchronous but asymmetrical vocal tracks with lyrics is a hard thing to get right in itself, and it's pretty spot on.

The outtakes from "Inside" are better than most musical comedies that exist today. The fucking OUTTAKES are a smash! The fact that the scraps that Bo left behind are better than most comedy, and media in general, blows my mind. This man is a legend.
@apersonwhomayormaynotexist98682 жыл бұрын

Am I the only one wondering if this was a sort of hoax sequel? Not sure the right term for it. I guess what I'm saying is I have to wonder if the "Outtakes" are actually the sequel to "Inside." Am I nuts or does this make sense to anyone else? I wouldn't be taking this idea seriously if it wasn't for the fact that this is an artist that would do some weird shit like that.

@@DriscolDevil I think that's the beauty of this special. You can view it in either way. It's obviously the scraps & Other ideas from Inside but then you can see it as a sequel because we've now been outside so should we go inside again and see what was really going on? Can we ever go inside ourselves again? Now the real big problems are back up and running. What are we to do. It's up to the individual. He should make an entire album of Bezos tracks. Would slay the charts.

Idk why but I laugh so hard every time he does a Bezos bit. 🤣

Please actually do this. Or at least, several more, hopefully longer, Bezos tracks.

@@thejulycutout4037 Same, I’m so glad it exists. I’m still pushing through every now and then, but I honestly feel so much better than I was a year ago and in a way better place now because of Inside. Bo literally saved my life and convinced me to keep going. Now it serves as a reminder to me that “you’re not alone” and that I deserve happiness.

I like how you put this. I don't think I have ever learned the words to every song on an album as fast as I did with this one. The man just put so much of how I feel into beautiful, hilarious poetry.

That ending shot of the beach was really cleansing. After this hour of intense self-reflection and even self-loathing, the feeling of being trapped inside - to see a small recognition that yes, he did actually get outside and is hopefully doing better, that gave me a lot of peace that I wasn't expecting. Hope you're doing better, Bo. I really hope you enjoy your time outside again.

"The Chicken" physically brought tears to my eyes. This was just as incredible and thought provoking as the special itself. Absolutely outstanding.

That feeling, in a depression or in the pandemic, of longing to get to the other side. And where are you when you're not all the way to the other side? You're in-side.

the chicken is such a good inspirational song, talking about how a woman, waking up, maybe who is in an abusive relationship, as the husband is “screaming”, how she’s sat in the dark, with another child on the way, and dreams of getting another life, in a town, where she’s pursuing her dream job but then is held hostage in a terrible reality where she’s a mother to her kids, and a wonderful wife to her husband. It then, goes on to say that the next morning, she decides to take the opportunity to run away, trying to get a new life and looking at wonderful things she’s dreamt of, because of the dark, she was kept in. She knows, that her future is given to her, that she needs to take a big step in “crossing the road”, then takes a journey “left, right, left, right”, when a terrible accident then happens, that is being stopped by a “pair of headlights”, which could mean that her husband must have taken her back, that others question her state of being, (dead or alive?), and in thought, makes others believe she died and others who are in hope thinking she’s on the other side, living her best life. “that’s why she did it” shows that the opportunity that most take, end up failing and making others succeed.
