The inspiring story of the man who became a GM at 41 years | ft. Reiner Castellanos, Aagaard

Renier Castellanos is a chess coach. Back in his younger days he had hit an Elo of 2530, but was unable to complete his norms to get the GM title. Fast forward to his age of 40 and he still had one GM norm pending. He had since many years given up his ambition of becoming a GM. But then people close to him pushed him to make an attempt towards the title.
And Renier picked up the challenge. At the Menorca Open 2024, just a few days ago, he achieved his final GM norm and became a Grandmaster. A lifelong dream was achieved at the age of 41 years. How did Renier do it? How did Jacob help him? This is an inspiring story of a man who dared to do the tough things in life and succeeded. Learn from his findings.

Its my ambition to become a GM. But I started my journey quiet late. Ummmmm 1.5 years ago! So, I can not be youngest GM now. But, I will try my best to become the "Oldest" GM. Any suggestion? (this question has no relation with the video. Congratulations to Reiner and Aagaard.)

Awesome accomplishment! I'm also an adult working on chess improvement. My goal is to be an NM in the USA. The idea of doing something everyday makes sense. I would add that we should be consciously working on specific objectives. In my case, I realized that my openings are or were atrocious because its an area that I ignored for a long time. For the past two months I have been working diligently on my opening repertoire. However, I'm not using someone else's repertoire as in chessable courses. I'm building my repertoire from scratch based on my own preferences with the assistance of an online database and stockfish. I also work on other areas (such as endgames, strategy, puzzles) and even though I can't do everything every day I try to do some form of calculation each day. My goal is to be mostly done with my opening repertoire soon and spend the rest of the year on a balanced training regimen to improve my other areas as well.
