This was lovely. It's a joy getting to meet Koneru, too, whom we've seen in the women's elite for ages but only as pictures and names. She always looks so stern and intense in pictures of her playing, and is such a beast at the board, that I was a little surprised she seemed so warm and relaxed here. It's great hearing from the rest of you, too. We miss Vidit, ofc. He'll be at the next dinner tho, I'm sure. Western dominance especially American dominance is through foreign players lol Wesley- Phillipines Leiner Dominguez - Cuba Fabiano - Italy Hikaru - Japan Aronian - Armenia Fischer was the only American homegrown top player If anything Chess currently has a Indian/Russian dominance in terms of homegrown talent (a bunch of Russian players changed federation after war though like Kosteniuk, Alekssenko, Fedoseev and some not so strong players too.
