Actually Leclerc's penalty is a bit of Ferrari's fault. They said they used wrong pit limiter sensor that caused them to go 1km/h over the limit. You switch the sensors between each type of tyres
@aidancrawford2084
@aidancrawford2084 2 жыл бұрын
Leclerc posted on Facebook saying it was not just the wrong sensor but the sensor also failed meaning he had no indication what speed he was going in the pit lane, therefore unfortunately causing his first ever time penalty in F1, seriously I don't know how much more pain I can take from ferrari it's really hard to be a Tfosi this year.

So true about McLaren. Can't believe I remember the days when people were complaining that Ferrari and McLaren were the only teams winning and no one else had a chance. We've come a long way since then.
@yannickvaz694
@yannickvaz694 2 жыл бұрын
The only defense I could say for McLaren is that they've regularly struggled with rule changes (and they have outdated resources). Even so, they've definitely dropped the ball on their car this year, while their strategies haven't been good. Ferrari on the other hand built a fast (albeit unreliable) car, but their strategies are as bad as they have been over the past few years. McLaren are still building an updated wind tunnel so there's some hope for them. If they struggle even after it's finished, then I'd be very disappointed. Ferrari's problems however should've been solved years ago, but haven't. Hopefully the fact that they lost both championships due to team blunders hurts them enough to realise they need change. Mercedes and Red Bull don't look like they'll drop from the front any time soon, and I'm confident that Merc will build a more competitive car next year. Alpine seems poised to slowly move forward, but they need to figure out their driver lineup soon (Ocon is a good driver on his day, but he's been inconsistent and has never been a great team player). McLaren and Ferrari are both capable of getting back to the front, but they need to iron out their issues quickly.

It's really the only thing that makes sense for him. I don't see him being interested in a "project" i.e. Williams or HAAS. It's really half a step up given the teams relative performance. It actually still doesn't make sense to me that Piastri would rather go to McLaren than Alpine for that reason. Of course there are rumors that the atmosphere in the team is so bad no one wants to drive for them, but I've yet to see or hear much to support this. Where ever he goes , there is going to be a reckoning. Either he and McLaren were just a bad fit, and he returns to form in a new team. Or he confirms that he truly has lost it.

See i think the drivers must be able to communicate very clearly how they feel on each tire, performance whise. and here in spa i think you saw, that leclerc is missing out on that. @juliusfucik4011

No, you have to maximize the expected number of points. You do this by multiplying probability with reward. In this case the reward was one point with moderate risk (fast lap, crash... getting behind Alonso, etc.) The punishment for either of these things was high. Now if you multiply the probabilities with the point reward/loss, you end up at a negative in this case. So you do not do it. In this case, Alonso was much too close. Leclerc was lucky to overtake him. In vain, but still.

Max has now entered the same place Lewis entered in 2014 onwards. He's got the best car, the best team around him, and he's performing at the top of his game. You could say he's the best driver, and I'd probably agree still, but.. you have to bare the car and team in mind too. It's years of work on RB and Verstappens side that has come to this moment and they're riding it. Even if max has a bad race or makes mistakes, he's still in the equivalent of what was the Mercedes not even 2 years ago so, it's likely he will still win the championship. You's see what I'm saying? I think he's still on par with Hamilton, Leclerc, Russel, Alonso, etc. I don't necessarily think he exceeds any of those as much as Hamilton didn't necessarily exceed any other driver in his dominance period. It's more right place right time and not that Verstappens skills alone is why he's winning. Of course he's incredibly talented but it's more than just him. RB is now in that zone and it could continue for a while, but I think it might reset in the next season cause of this car regs is much easier to adapt with than before. I suspect that another team will bounce back next season and challenge them. I can't see RB drastically running away like Merc did.

The amount of distrust in the team for their bad calls, his own unforced mistakes, and the general unreliability and lack of pace in the car compared to Red Bull might have just pushed him to a point where he simply can't keep it together and give 100%, only ever being able to go at 96%...
