The NASA internet thing is deeply misunderstood. First thing : it is not internet (the network connected to whole world ) . It is their intranet (totally internal without external connection) . And their speed is very high not just because of high end technology like optical fibre , but also because of minimal and managed connection traffic. And also the image sent from space are not small in size . They are terabytes of data which also come with tons of information.
