In this @IowasNewsNow WeatherFirst Special, we take a look back at the historic #flood of 2008 in this next iteration of the Emmy-awarded "In Their Own Words" series.
On June13, 2008 the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, #Iowa shattered the existing record by more than 11 feet. We take a look back at some of the significant events in those unbelievable days before, and after, the crest. #IAwx #OTD

And here I am looking to move TO Iowa possibly even to Cedar Rapids...Here in Oregon our main concern is Rioting and Forest Fires, I was a volenteer back in 2020 during the fires...Seems like flooding and tornado's are either just as bad or WORSE! ...But I have no choice I have to move because the housing market for lower income family's does not exist AT ALL here in Oregon... I dunno, Guess I could try to find a place further away from the rivers and invest in a wall around my potential house instead of a fence...

The water looked pretty deep, How many feet was the flood waters? This is something I'm a lil paranoid over while I'm shopping around for a house, I'm looking to move from Oregon to Iowa but we're lower income so can't afford the houses up in the hills... here the worst we got is Riots and forest fires, our family had to evacuate during the 2020 fires but luckily our rental was spared.

I was only 3 years old during this. I’m lucky our house survived. We could’ve lost everything.
