I don’t know why there’s so much hatred for the M2 IPad Pro. Yes, the hover feature is about the only real upgrade over the M1, but so what, it is an incremental update. Not worthwhile for M1 owners, but it is for people moving up from earlier iPads

I think because iPhone 14 was a big event with huge improvements to Apple Watch, AirPods, and even the iPhone 14 pro is gonna break my not upgrading streak When you compare an iPhone 12/13 to a 14 pro it’s a huge jump When you compare an iPad Pro m1 to m2 it’s not, However that doesn’t mean it’s bad it’s people just getting their expectations up too high for a year over year upgrade. Most people were saying an m1 was unnecessarily powerful for an ipad let alone an M2. Personally I like when companies do minor upgrades year over year and save major things for milestones, buying new every year is both wasteful and expensive.

Love my M2 and paid no attention to most of the reviewers. Too many were based solely off of rumors as no one had hands on an M2 to review. When all that “maybe” didn’t happen, they lost it. Sad really. If an M1 is great than an M2, being an M1 with a boost, is even greater.

Great take!! Most of these KZbinrs are looking at the M2 iPad Pro from the perspective of someone who’s coming from an M1 iPad Pro/Air, someone who’s upgrading their iPads yearly (aka the typical tech reviewer perspective). And that’s what irritates me, because they forget that most people keep their iPads for well over 3-5 years. Heck, I upgraded from the 2015 iPad Air 2, so I Knew what I wanted and needed. At first I thought the hover feature and stage manager wouldn’t be utilized much on my end. But, as a university student who now replaced his laptop for the M2 iPad Pro as his main productivity device, I find myself using the stage manager feature and hover feature very frequently for note taking, multitasking, marking/highlighting pdfs, and drawing/sketching. PS. The model I have is the 256 GB M2 iPad Pro, with magic keyboard case and 2nd gen Apple Pencil

Thanks for the review, I'm upgrading from a 2016 iPad Pro 32GB and was getting a little bummed from all the useless comparison with the 2021 and it not being a great upgrade. I hope it will last me another 6 years, but the 2022 certainly makes that quite a bit more likely.

I tested the 12.9 inch out in the store, and didn’t notice too much of a difference in the screens between the 11 inch. The main reason I want the 12.9 inch is because I play piano and reading music notes on the 12.9 inch was way easier to see. I was able to compare sheet music in the store and it helped me decide which one I want to get. I don’t have great eyes and the bigger screen is going to be nice to read notes better and the pen will be sweet to use for note taking on the sheet music.

See, that was a great video because all I see is people talking bad about the M2 iPad Pro, I think I’ve only seen one other video where someone talked good about the M2 iPad Pro, but in the comments they ripped it apart. For me as a person whose last iPad was the iPad 3, almost 10 years ago before they even had an air, or a mini, getting the M2 iPad Pro was like buying my MacBook Pro but in tablet form and I absolutely love it and I use it as an iPad not a laptop because I have a MacBook Pro and iMac and everything else. I just haven’t bought an iPad in a long time, but I am very happy with it
@joeyjames49532 жыл бұрын
Great video! You have solidified my decision to upgrade to a base model iPad Pro 11 from the original air 1 32gb I’ve been using since launch. I’m very overdue for an upgrade and was sweetened by the refurbished prices on a 2021 12.9, which would be overkill for my workflow.

I just bought the 2022 iPad Pro and hadn't used any handheld from Apple since about 10-15 years ago when the iPod first had a screen (it was stolen after 2 days of ownership). Early on, I LOVE THIS THING and the fact that you can extend it to another screen makes it a candidate for a full laptop replacement for my use. Can't wait to get into this thing more.

This is how it started for me a few years ago. Comcast gave me a free iPad. While at the same time I had a job that everyone had an iPhone but me. I was impressed with the iPad, so I got an iPhone XS Max. I was still an “Android guy” tho. Now it’s like 6 years down the road and I still have an Android phone but my daily is an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it runs along with a piece of every category of their ecosystem including my M2 iPad Pro. I’m posting this 3 months after your initial comment, Im curious if you’ve delved any further than the iPad. Air Pods? Apple TV? Plans to?

It shows how the iPad has come a long way since its launch in 2010 and Apple making an OS thats more dedicated to it can only make it even better!

Thank you for this review! Seriously, all the others I’ve seen are from the point of view of people who upgrade every year or two who expect every update to be a major redesign, and hate on this new one because it’s not worth it to them to update. But I think most people are like you and me. I’m still on an Air 2. To me this is a major redesign. I don’t update often, and I’ll keep it a very long time so the extra year of iOS support is worth it, and the longer life of the more powerful chip, even if it’s not noticeable now, will be in six years or so. And I’ll still be using this in six years, that I know.

Just got an M2 iPad Pro 11; last iPad was a first gen Mini. The sticker shock was a big OUCH, but I plan on keeping this device for at least 5 years, so the improvements in battery life, face ID, ProMotion, and slight bump in processing were worth the extra 50-100 dollars over the 256 GB Air 5. You’re better getting a little extra up front if you can afford it, so you won’t upgrade sooner than you need to, than to save 100 dollars, but get the itch to upgrade sooner.

All the hatred for the m2 is honestly not at all deserved. The m2 chip packs huge power compared to m1. And while apple pencil hover is the only real feature, for people upgrading from older ipads (im upgrading from an ipad 5) its really good If you already have an m1 or A-14,15. Its not worth upgrading. But for older models (A-11 bellow) its definitely worth it

DaVinci isn't going to be a full-blown version sadly. I have this iPad too and it is very cool for traveling and entertainment. I have days where I try to use this for my remote job as a production machine. Without my work browser plugins, skippy selection for copy and paste, even in safari in scrolling down long results pages things are appearing a second or two after scrolling should reveal them, it's just not a good production machine. Last night I was playing CODM with external monitor playing a KZbin video and that worked great. I realized, this is a really neat toy and backup device in case I don't have my laptop. But it's slow as a primary. The anker products you are showing are cool, would have been cooler if the design would somehow fit with the keyboard.

Without a proper operating system this looks like a toy for me... What a wasted potential :( We cannot run all Mac apps like Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Unity and Unreal editors... The iPad with M1/M2 could very easily replace a complete computer. They don't do it to not kill MacBook sales :( So it is artificially limited. For many years we didn't have proper file management on the iPad OS. It is bizarre how such a big company create something like this. Huge potential, very limited usability. They want the iPad to be a companion to their other products, it is great but not so great to not be able to replace them.

Thank you - this is the review I’ve been looking for. I haven’t had an iPad since the original iPad Air, and so many reviews rag on this tablet for being not hugely different from the previous pro which is not useful to me as someone who doesn’t already have a fairly recent iPad model (not to mention that comparing it to the previous pro isn’t useful because I can’t buy that anymore!). Thank you for showing what this machine can do in its own right. It’s probably a bit OP for my uses given I’m not using it as a laptop replacement, but it seems like a solid future-proof investment with some really great features

I am glad you enjoy your new purchase. The main thing I took from the earlier reviews was that the difference between the m1 and M2 was incremental. So why buy an M2 ipad when you can get an M1 ipad for cheaper and it still does 99% of what the M2 does? The M1 is overpowered as well. And davinci resolve will also come to that iPad. Personally, unless you believe you are going to make use of the hover feature, you could replace your M2 ipad with an M1 and not even know the difference. That does not mean the M2 ipad is bad.

You are obviously not a painter, because the number one reason to get the M2 is the new hover function on the iPencil. Game changer right there. No need to go back and forth through the menu options. You control the iPencil like a real live brush on canvass. If you are not an artist, them skip this iPad and get a 2018 instead. But for serious artists, the M2 is a must have.

I also have the 2020 IPAD Air, with the Magic Keyboard. I thought about upgrading to the current 12.9. My problem. The magic keyboard is awesome. It would cost me $ 350 for the 12.9 keyboard plus the cost of the IPAD. I could trade in my Air, but wouldn’t get anything extra for the keyboard. I couldn’t envision going to the 12.9 without the keyboard. I’ll probably put the money towards a newerMacBook air.
