Lucky you. That must have been one heck of an experience. Back in the mid-70s my mum had an album of the Dubliners performing live and used to play it. Ireland now has 4 regions Ulster, Munster, Leinster, Connacht. In ancient times we also had Mith/Meith hence the name "Cuige" ie one "Fifrh" for 5 Prophences ie seat of the High King.

It brings a tear to my eye, a tune that Donny Rovers play before every match. I hope this version will be played at the next home game, A sad loss.

I'm not even Irish, but had some great nights in Spain at Irish bars singing and dancing to this! Great times and memories. RIP Shane.

If all nations got along with each other like these lads do, what a wonderful place Mother Earth would be.

Whatever it is , Shane had it. I think it's the authenticity. He lived it. A rare thing in Ireland these days. His funeral is in his home town on Friday. R.I.P Shane . A great Irishman. His songs will go on forever.
