Sad and interesting fact about the movie: the iron giant was originally gonna have different moments and different scenes, compared to the final draft but l everything changed due to a tragic event when brad bird’s sister was shot and murdered by her own husband in 1989 which changed everything to the point when brad bird changed the movie’s message “what if a gun had a soul, how would it feel on what it’s purpose is?” Which is a tight reference to the event when brad bird’s sister was shot by a gun used by her husband

This movie is definitely a Brad Bird classic. There’s even some celebrities you never really noticed. Jennifer Aniston as Hogarth’s mom, Harry Connick Jr. as Dean, Christopher McDonald as Kent, even Vin Diesel voiced The Iron Giant himself (he’s really good at voicing characters with the fewest words). This is definitely a great movie to watch with the family or friends.

This will shock you. In the film The Incredibles on the jet, with Helen over the radio they mention “India Golf 9er 9er or IG-99” because I.G. stands for Iron Giant and 99 is for the release year of 1999, and because Brad Bird directed both films.

A movie director, inserting an Easter Egg into one of their films as an homage, isn't very shocking. More of a "fun fact" or a "did you know" type of thing... P.S. Thanks for the fun fact...

The Iron Giant is STILL that legendary animated gem, and it's a damn good move for them to add The Iron Giant himself as a playable character on MultiVersus.
@isaiahadams19962 ай бұрын
Here’s a few interesting facts: - The Iron Giant is based on a novel called The Iron Man. The reason Warner Bros changed the title is to avoid confusion with the Marvel character Iron Man. - Hogarth was originally gonna have red hair. - Eli Marienthal, the actor who plays Hogarth did voice acting work for other Warner Bros projects after The Iron Giant. - Though I’m pretty sure a lot of us know this, Brad Bird, the director of this film is also the same director behind Pixar’s The Incredibles. - One of the most difficult things in making the movie was figuring out how to show off the Giant’s powers without having him kill anyone.

I'm a 33 year old man who has seen this movie many times and I have no problem saying that I cry to this movie every time I see it when the Iron Giants sacrifices himself. Not because it´s sad, but because it´s one of the purest depictions of what we can all accomplish. He is a creation of war and yet he fights his very nature as said war machine because he wants to be much better. He wants to be Superman! And just like the Iron Giant, we can all strive to be better than what we are. Beautiful movie with a beautiful message!

Although its based from from the novel The Iron Man (1968), Brad Bird wrote the treatment film based on his sisters death from gun violence, with this questioning, What if the gun had a soul and didnt want to be a a gun at all.

Just gonna support the channel by commenting on this reaction to this classic animated film to put in a good word for Duck n Cover, and poor old Bert the Turtle. When you consider that the first reaction of the vast majority of people to a gigantic flash of light outside their windows would be to run to the window to see what was going on, the government needed some way to encourage people not to do that. And they needed a catchy slogan and a mascot and all the bells and whistles of 1950s advertising to get it into people's minds to stay...and you gotta hand it to them, we do remember it to this day. The important thing to keep in mind, is that the whole idea came about in 1951, before the hydrogen bomb had even been first tested, so it was from a much less dangerous time in the Cold War nuclear arms race.

Even by Cold War standards, Mansley is paranoid. The animation of this movie is amazing. Fun fact: Iron Giant wants to be like Superman. Agent Kent Mansley is voiced by Christopher McDonald, who voiced Superman's father Jor-El in Superman: The Animated Series. He later voiced an older version of Superman in Batman Beyond. 28:57 he doesn't have that kind of authority, but Hogarth doesn't know that. 29:39 they don't know I don't view it as anti-war, just more anti-fear. Especially of the unknown. General Rogard was much more level-headed than Agent Mansley for example.

The Iron Giant is such a classic. A favourite of mine and still makes me emotional today lol. I wish we could get more mature/family driven animated films like this and Coraline, the incredibles etc. And just more hand drawn films in general I miss this art style. Also the ending. Some might dislike his reveal of being alive as it takes away at the emotional sacrifice...but it also adds something. It adds the fear if realising that humanity hit him with their most powerful weapon and it caused no permanent damage. And knowing that he is indeed made as a war machine and that there's hundreds more out there...pretty scary to think about 😅
@tyrelmitchell93162 ай бұрын

I have not seen this movie in forever. Since I was young and at a local dentistry. This movie is really good for it's time of release, and still holds up. And I agree with Clariss, Kent was definitely an A-hole for sure. It's like he didn't care at all about Hogarth being dead or alive or the Giant. It's like he wanted them both dead. And even tho the Giant is a war machine, he can change. Like Hogarth said "You are who you choose to be". I'm still surprise that this movie didn't do all that great for being a masterpiece. And with that should have deserved a sequel. Sadly we'll never get one. But this movie will always be a memorable movie to remember.

I'll give you a little something to think about: Remember when Hogart was waiting in the woods for the giant to show up, to make a picture? He made one accidentally of himself while cleaning the lens. This is the exact picture Ken Ramsley finds while developing the photos. The fact that the giant was in this picture in the background gives you an indication that he was behind Hogart for a great amount of time during his waiting 0_0

Thankfully, since its release, Iron Giant has been getting a lot more recognition that it initially received and has a particular prowess in Pop Culture. The version you watched was actually an updated version of the film with extra scenes that was shown in theaters for...either it's 20th or 25th anniversary (I forget which but it did much better in theaters that time). In fact, due to said Pop Culture status, The Iron Giant himself has also sorta been used as selling points for crossovers with him in it such as the films Ready Player One and Space Jam 2 as well as WB's fighting game MultiVersus (where he's seen flying with Superman).
