Impressive match with only one bolt there near the end. 😉 Reminded me of one of the Mission Impossible movies, where the woman says she is out of bullets and asks Tom Cruise what he still has. Star Citizen is Eve: Online meets Sea of Thieves. So there are people just doing PVE (mining, cargo hauling, combat missions, non-combat missions), and some people just doing PVP. And it's the interplay between all of this that's the point of the game. There are no raids. Currently the game is played on separately-instanced servers with a maximum of 50 players per server. There's been a lot of recent playtests where they've increased the count to ~200 per server. And later on this year they'll finally implement "Server Meshing", where the game's servers will dynamically trade control of your game client without you noticing. The end goal is to have the illusion of a single, massive server, similar to Eve Online. In the future there will be in-game reasons to actually do things. Currently there aren't, at least nothing more than "make money" or "have fun shooting other people". The in game economy is still in its infancy; it's nothing like the huge depth of Eve Online's capitalist system. The game also doesn't currently have any sort of "sovereignty" mechanic, where players own and fight over plots of land on various moons/planets. But these will eventually be the main drivers of combat in the game. They intend for the end result to be more of a sandbox MMO than an extraction shooter. Otherwise none of those huge (expensive) ships would have a reason to exist. And they, of course, *need* them to have a reason to exist, or their monetization model will have been for nothing lol
