Extraordinary documentary- had all the melancholic resonance of Grey Gardens. BZ to Jordan Meeder and all those involved making this gem.

Wet nicely done Jordan, the length and pauses gave a lot of depth to the film, sad about the whole of the situation but grateful for the opportunity to have viewed the tale portrayed so thoughtfully. Best of luck to all involved 🙏

Just found out about this boat from a news story on WCVB. Great documentary. I though Doug Jackson of SV Seeker was the first visionary to make a boat in his back yard. Hope he can get his ship to water.

Because a bunch of rich old dolts paid for a "view" and then dedicate their entire life to making sure nothing within their precious "view" ever changes. They think just because they bought a house they own everything they can see out their window.

I pray his dream comes true somehow. If I won the lottery tomorrow, that's were my money would go! My ancestor, John Webster, of Freeport built a ship in his back yard! Then sailed it to England stocked with wood! God bless you!😊

Why do the neighbors have any worry about the launch. They are not dredging they are not cutting big trees. There is plenty of water to launch that boat. You know we have these great schooners that rich people praise and they were built in coves like where I live on Little Deer isle not expensive boat yards like Brooklyn Boat. Let the guy launch his boat.

Twenty two years ago I learned how to use a plasma cutting torch and cut out some of the steel deck beams on this ship. Harold is quite a character and working on the boat was a unique experience.

Hi Jordan, thank you for documenting Harold's story. What an beautiful vessel, and what an amazing mind that put her together. I really hope, that she may reach water someday. I am 6 years in rebuilding a former fueltanker boat into a live-aboard using recycled materials, seeing Harald's yard is something I only could dream off. What a beautiful film you have made, with great interviews, I will share it with my friends. Best regards, from Copenhagen, Denmark.

what have we become ? boats have been built near the shore for thousands of years and now people from "away"tell us what we can do , what a great way to recycle steel , if it never launches turn it into a house
@NunyaBizness-p8yАй бұрын
At the end of the day, if the partner owner of the vessel owns waterfront property where they plan to launch the boat, there isnt a fucking thing the city can do about it and they can eat rocks. Federal Law declares all navigable waters as a public right of way and neither the town nor the homeowners association have any legal standing to interfere.
@JordanMeederАй бұрын
Interesting point - thanks for watching. From what I understand the temporary ramp / constructions they'd need to launch the boat is somehow able to be blocked via the neighbors complaint to a coastal protection agency.
@NunyaBizness-p8yАй бұрын
@JordanMeeder That sounds like maybe theyre afraid of being liable in civil court then. Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean they won't be sued unfortunately.

@OliverChisholm they were squared away and on the verge of launching in fall of 2023 after this was released. They overcame some major legal obstacles and reached agreement with the town that had been an issue for years, then were blocked again via some other route of legal appeal by the neighbors. So as of today, still in limbo.

Actors and spectators Harold, actors and spectators ! You are part of the former's but you ain't rich so the bourgeois on the sidelines will eat you alive so that in the end they can have all the green grass & comfort that money and power can afford them. That's the way it goes. Maybe, indeed, you were born a century too late. Maybe, you are/have become just too much of a "nutcase" (you certainly are one I mean: voting for Trump, dooms day & weird esoteric stuff...). But it does not make you or your dreams crazy or irrelevant. It is they, the spectators who rule and own the world now and they don't leave much space around for guys like you (and me). That's the way it is. By the way, I tip my hat to you and all the good people around you who have helped you along the way.
