Thermals are OK for going cross country. But most stamina is lost when fishing. By the time you've caught 4 or 5 fish to fill you up _(As an adult.)_ and flown back into a tree or on to a rock to eat in safety, you've barely got 10% stamina left. _It's then you've got to rest for 4 mins to get back to full stamina._ And by the time you've stamina uped(?), you'll need to drink. *And that brings into affect the FEDS rule for Ptera's. Fly. Eat. Drink. Stamina.*

Main tips for ptera: -Don't fly straight up, you use more stamina the higher of an incline you're flying. I feather spacebar or you can tap W whilst looking *SLIGHTLY* up. Also don't use shift unless necessary. -You can air brake with Z. I recommend rebinding this to something easier to press whilst keeping full control of WASD (I have mine set to a thumb button on my mouse for example) You can use this to land softly and accurately or slow down in the air and to slow yourself to cling to a tree. -Hold right click whilst slowly gliding to a tree using your brakes to cling to it. When clinging to a tree you won't regain stamina but you can start flying again without it using stamina to take-off. You can also safely eat from there instead of landing on the ground. -Pecking at the fish in the water is better than using the built-in mechanic for fishing. Instead of slowly gliding down into the water and waiting for the prompt (And waiting for a deino to snatch you up) you can simply fly by and bite to catch a fish (you do still need to be very close to the water but it's a lot faster and reliable) -When you're a fresh juvi, you'll need to be careful of pteradactyl ai's. They can kill you very easily. The best way to avoid them is once you've caught your first fish, keep gliding over the water. They fall into it and get stuck, leaving you to fly away safely. -You don't need to be as close as you think you do to bite something during a fly-by. Avoid getting stuck on another players hitbox and falling to the ground only to be eaten. Your beak is longer than you think ;)

The shallower the incline while using W to ascend (never use the space bar), the less stamina you will use. You should try to aim for just above the horizon. You can get quite a bit of height without using much stamina just by circling this way. Try to land on a high enough object and just run off the edge, rather than taking off with the space bar.

Why never use spacebar? I've found they both use the same amount of stamina for the same height gain and generally I try to get out of the habit of pressing W as I'll sometimes press it whilst turning from habit and then suddenly I'm losing stamina for no reason even when I'm descending

Don't fly around holding shift. Fly higher using W and looking ever so slightly up. Your stam will last a little longer that way. But still stam sucks.

The one thing Beasts of Bermuda overwhelmingly succeeds in is their flying system. Flyers can regen stamina while in the air, just so long as you aren’t sprinting. That’s probably the biggest reason why I don’t play Ptera because otherwise I’d main it. lol

Tips for playing as a pteranodon: 1. Dont fly all the way down from cliffs if you hate resting for 3/4 minutes 2. Dont mistake deer for goats, and after realizing its not a goat continue eating it. 3. Don’t look under the water to skim for fish…it just does not work. Look just above the water surface to see how close your bird is to swimming. 4. If you, again, hate resting for 3/4 minutes; don’t sprint fly at all. You forgot never take off, just walk of a cliff and hit space to start gliding. If you NEVER use stam at all then you never have to rest. A much better system than what we had before.

Good to find another Brit on The Isle. My _"go to"_ species are the Deino and the Ptera. I very rarely go veggie but the headbutting Pachy's quite fun. However. Trying to keep a Deino alive on Gateway is not as easy as it was on the Evrima Map. 9/10 you end up just living off elite fish in the hope you can bag an unwary Teno 8-((... Good video by the way 8-))... EDIT - I can't wait for the Quetz to come out. 17 ft high and weighing 250 lbs. It's going to be a glass cannon. Plus I'd like the Deino to have indeterminate growth as all crocs do. As for stamina. You're right. Fly, eat, drink, then sit down for 5 mins to gain stamina. And then repeat the process as food and water drain like crazy. Though the ability to land in most trees is a real boon. Though landing in the palm trees is still hit and miss. Normally a miss in my case 8-((... PS - Just sent you an friend request on Steam if you're interested. And I just subbed to you ;-))...

At 5:54 i caught a glimpse of that deers ear and i immediately knew what it was lol Pays when you hunt deer on a dairy farm and need to pick out a cow ear frorm a deers when only thing that you can really see at 2 am in the morning are the silhouette of the herds so ears are your best guess lmao

I saw another Ptera player preserve stam by looking upwards at a shallow angle and holding w instead of pressing space to attend. Should help a bit to traverse fast.

right now the same thing is with Spiro... hot spots attract the majority of the server to some few areas leaving the majority of the map to the solo and few in between dinos... that will often die of starvation (if it's a carnivore ofc)... imo they rly need to add more things to the west of the map, cuz right now the Northeast, east, south, and center parts is the most populated, leaving pretty much the entire western parts pretty non existent

I'm not one to usually nit-pick like this, but i think The Isle KZbinrs really need to look into lighting up the night time in their after-editing. KZbin makes things darker than the original recording, so if you can barely see when playing the game, it's a black screen for us. I think upping the gama solves it? Not sure, but i think that's what older survival game KZbinrs did.

i thought it was interesting in the latest dev blog that pteranodons were initially meant to dogfight each other in the air and other stuff. i have come across some aggro pteranodons on gateway that were hanging out on the rock at the water access lake you were on. i was just gonna eat a fish there and join them and they ganged up on me and said :"you're in the wrong neighborhood homie" and bit me xD i was like wtf and got out of there. there were at least 6 of them. smh. this makes me want to start playing ptera again. the stam for it does suck, i hope with future updates it's a bit easier to play. and yup as i'm sure you're aware now, that was a deer, not a goat. xD i find sea turtles to be pretty abundant and good for starting out, along with any crabs you might find on the beach. oh yeah, i pretty much had to hang around water access or water in general because of the water drain. i think i did die of dehydration once.

I don’t even play Ptera cause I suck at it, but I feel your pain that stamina usage is fucking ridiculous. You should be able to fly for a _long_ time like most large winged birds.

You can, although it still needs some sort of buff because flying up is ridiculous. This guy just hasn't played ptera much but you can fly for a long time as long as you slowly ascend and glide for the rest of the way. You can make it over half of the map if you manage it properly

I am not sure but I had the exactly same experience, if this is EU1 I might be the little cocodrile on my first game in evrima. If it´s not the server it just exactly replicates my first experience, same big cocos colors, same color for the little one and same zone. crazy I was like no way xD
