Good luck with your game. If it's planned to be anything like the Isle then it'll definitely be a challenge (As I presume you are already very aware) but I wish you luck. Also while the Isle's Devs have definitely had their bad moments, most of the time they seem to come off as relatively pleasant and normal people. Additionally the Isle isn't exactly the sort of game you spend so long developing without being incredibly passionate about it.

we might be getting 6 GOOD dinos this year... if not that then 4 good ones... 2025 is gonna be the year... i still think they'll release Allo and Astro together and then Rex and Trike together, to not make testing sooo long and hard... so IF astro and allo is complete now, then they could be in QA testing... and we could possibly see em around Febuary... then Rex and Trike i'd say around May/June/July... Then POSSIBLY if Kentro and Bary is finished before the year is over we could get em both as Christmas presents

Can definitely say Rex should PROBABLY be a cannibal. Otherwise I can imagine baby rexes just hanging onto adults until a given age and then breaking off. Overpopulation is pretty easy to imagine. Regardless of whether the "real" Rex was a cannibal or not. If anything it would probably balance out to atleast 12 rexes per server at the max? Maybe less, which is prolly what we'd want

I do hope t-rex will be a cannibal, we need as little of them on servers as possible - Imagine how awful it'd be if 20 of them camped all the map, impossible for everyone to play plus they become boring quickly because 99% of the server will be rexes. This way meeting grown rex will be rare and unique.

Rex is going to be an over-populated species by the nature of it being rex. Making it a cannibal won't prevent over-population, it will enable it - just look at all of the ceratos running around in the game right now. If a rex is difficult to grow, but everyone is playing rex, and rex get nutrients eating other rexes, then growing becomes a lot easier. You'll see a lot more adults wandering around like in Legacy, and if one of their packmates dies fighting a trike (for example), that's another meal to eat whether they win or lose the hunt, rewarding rexes in every outcome resulting in them thriving. Kissen said they'll be handling a cannibal rex differently to how we know it, but right now, I say let rex be able to eat other rexes safely without gaining any nutrition for their diets to increase growth. A source of food without any additional benefits outside of 'not starving to death'. It maintains the fantasy without completely imbalancing the ecosystem.

Maia was wanted and obviously,most Dino’s have 200-300 animations with rex having 600+ and it will be releasing this year very soon and if they focused on one thing at a time the time between 1 playable and another would be even longer.

the model, animations, and sounds are in the game. It's currently in it's pre public testing phase as they make sure everything is working properly for the horde test.

Rex Being a Cannibal Would Make Rex Situation even worse. Its better as a non cannibal. As seen with Under population of carno and over population of cera... Rex should be like carno to make it harder to survive. The Cera can eat everything which makes it a very easy to survive. Also if as a baby rex you found a dead rex that's enough food to get you to sub stage... 😅

Part of the cerato problem is the current unbalance of the eco system. While the carno weighs more, cerato honestly is the biggest bruiser the carnivores have on land. Once something is introduced to knock it down, I think we will start seeing their population come back under control, especially since things like allo won't be cannibals so they'll need to hunt other things to survive. Meanwhile rex for most of it's gameplay loop is gonna basically be a funny-shaped allo. While cannibalism might give it some extra food, everyone who encounters it for the first 50% of it's growth is gonna want it dead since they know what happens when it makes it past that point, so the extra food probably won't matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.

Kissen said that rex is not comparable to anything currently in the game. Cannibalism controls the deino population but sustains the cerato population. Rex is not in the game yet so we cant predict what things like cannibalism would do to its population. Its atleast good to know that they do want to control its population.

For the next update just fix the millions of bugs currently ingame rather than add more we dont even have mig zone anymore lol. there is a certain bug that has been there since gateway dropped and still not fixed. Raptors pounce for example is so buggy now and deino's lunge sometimes works sometimes does not. herbie food giving like 2% the birds chasing you forever flying trees and rocks in mid air off the ground parts of the river is just missing and dont get me started on the hackers. Easy Anti Cheat should be renamed to easy to cheat.

"optimization isn't really practical for a game in development" Awhile back, Matt on the official Path of Titans discord said they have 100k players daily and 300 official servers, approx. Presumably due to it being able to be ran on anything, even phones. *All without upscaling.* Meanwhile, The Isle chugs on good hardware where FSR isn't a thing for AMD cards and DLSS will have a good chance of being broken. This is on top of the bugs, the glacial update speed, and constantly having to delete your appdata folder after every patch unless you want to game to somehow run _worse_. The Isle is the better game, in terms of combat, graphics, models, sound, etc, by a noticeable margin. But being able to actually play the game? Y'know, basic, I mean thr first basic step of accessibility? It seems they think it "isn't practical", holy moly the bullheadedness.

The root of the problem is the fact that The Isle devs are giving us as gamers exactly what we want in terms of mechanics, graphics, models, sound, combat despite being an indie developer. If some giant company bought out the Isle and made it, these things would happen much faster get way more advertising and have larger servers and player-base, but it would be filled with micro-transactions and they would develop it to be profitable and exactly how THEY want it. The Isle isn't perfect, and progress is indeed very slow, but I personally believe that's because we are so used to these huge publishers or developers handing out games left and right while they eventually abandon it, stop updating, and move on to something worth more money. Being a part of the ongoing development, giving our feedback in the discord, and watching fixes/changes that we advocated for come out in patch notes is a different kind of satisfaction than just having new playable creatures more often. The QA team for the Isle can only catch so many things. Unless they hired 100 people to punch in 100 hours on a lot of different existing playables while testing new ones before release, it's up to us to hop on hordetesting servers when they ask to help bring them to light. The reality is, this game probably still won't have an official release for at least a couple more years, but at least its not filled with microtransactions, ignored or bot-responded support tickets and abandonment issues. I've noticed the devs becoming increasingly hostile towards their community in discord (myself included), and despite being a target of some of their passive aggressive behavior, I don't blame them. The Isle community can be super impatient and rude (not meaning you), but developers experiencing community burnout is a very real thing, only magnified by the fact that their team is so small.

@@athenashadow well thought out reply However, while the Isle being developed by a small team has the benefits you listed, lack of greed and it feeling more natural than some AAA slop, it comes with the tradeoffs of what I and others list all the time. We get the slow updates and bugs and lack of optimization precisely because Dondi's priorities are on other things. Think of it as a tradeoff, with PoT, you get an optimized and accessible game, at the cost of MTX, inferior graphics, sounds, animations, etc, and a lead who isn't callous and bullheaded, but rather just stubborn. Over here, The Isle is far and away the better game to look at and, when you're able to, actually play. But we get the tradeoffs I listed before, and a non existent gameplay loop that's the worst of the two. That's part of the reason I made the original comment, I remember when Matt was Deathly back in legacy, and it's gotten so, so old watching these games stumble instead of sticking to the straight and narrow. Hell PoT tried adding a paid dino two weeks back, luckily people rebelled to get it axed, but it's stuff like that that makes them saying that "optimization isn't practical" even more bitter when you put it side by side all the other issues. And Beasts of Bermuda? That game died because they stumbled so bad, infinite growth gave it a horrible community, it turned into a AFK sim years ago, and some of the devs are zoophiles (Check their Furaffiniy's). To put it short, the issues have gotten really, really old by now, and as the years go on it makes me feel more and more like quitting dino surv games all together.
