2:13 Head right down the glen - to the Mountain Rescue Hut. On your left is the wee track up to Eas Mor, the highest waterfall on Skye. It's seldom busy and the walk up is a steady climb with no scrambling. When you come back down head through the farm and out onto the beach for sun, sea, sand and enough breeze (usually) to discourage midges. (o: 10:45 Autumn on Skye is magical - there are a wide variety of trees and soil types so you get all sorts of autumn colours over an extended period. The drive from Broadford to Elgol is just glorious. 11:36 The little white dot ( above the fence) on the far side of the loch is a wonderful viewpoint for sunsets.

Hi C2H, What an idyllic place - never realised it was so popular! I too believe that was a Kestrel guys, as they are light, they can hover .... an eagle is much larger & would sore? rather than hover 😊 Anyway, not much to say about Skye really, but glad you had a peaceful evening in a lovely spot. Drive safe, stay safe & look out for each other & I look forward to the next one. N1S Kev x

Hi Guys You have filmed in my favourite part of the world, The Isle of Skye. We thought about living and retiring but after a great deal of research it was not for us. Despite its beauty it is quite some distance from hospitals, large shops etc. A recent well known You tuber was taken ill recently and it was a 2 and half hour drive to Inverness. That said you can see why so many people visit the Island it is outstandingly beautiful. When the ferry was in operation and they stopped running ay midnight it was a very much quieter place in a different era but things change they used to charge for the bridge but then that was abolished. Pity you did not get to Talisker and the distillery worth a visit. Fantastic video as always. Regards Crawford

Thank you Crawford. I can see how this place is your favourite ! Really a beautiful part of the world but you're right might be a bit tricky because it's a long way from everything so fully understand you there !

Yes, it's much better 'quiet'. (I live in Portree). The bridge destroyed that for much of the year. Best time by far recently was during Lockdown when visitors were virtually forbidden: lovely wanderings, 'in touch with Nature' & no bedlam & poisonous stink from the roads. Very reminiscent of the Seventies & Skye was herself again. Then...

Gosh too busy for me. We were there in the summer 20 years ago and it was very quiet. Shame.😢

@@TravelTalesVlogs Good call - autumn on Skye is magical. The schools are back, everything is still open and the colours are fantastic (particularly in Sleat).

Unfortunately the Isle of Skye is destroying itself with its popularity. I normally go there in November to do landscape photography. In November it is very quiet with snow capped mountains, raging rivers and fantastic light for photography. Many years ago parking was free, now you have to take out a second mortgage to park anywhere. My advice would be to give the island a miss in the summer months or you will only be disappointed. Great video guys. Love your travels and commentary ❤️

Thank you and really a great suggestion - Autumn seems to be a great idea in many popular places now ! Parking in the UK is outrageous tbh, so expensive to get out in nature. The Lake District I remember was the worst of all

How come it was so busy, compared to the rest of Scotland? By any chance, was it the weekend?
@TravelTalesVlogs Жыл бұрын
I think it's just a much more popular tourist destination when compared to further north

Nice vlog but you appeared frustrated, a bit like finding somewhere to park on a Saturday night in Bugibba!

Haha that's right Terence, but with a motorhome so even harder 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it and see you in the next one for a bit of exploring on Skye 😍

Skye simply gets swamped and overrun in the summer now; it's not able to handle the numbers of visitors it gets. It's infrastructure was never intended to support so many people and it's roads were not designed for the large vans, motorhomes and buses that most visitors now arrive in. You could not pay me to visit the Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr, Fairy Glen, Quiraing, Neist Point etc in the summer. It's just hell, and the place gets completely trashed.

Yeah it was so busy and we didn't really expect it to be busier than the NC500 route so took us a bit by shock !
@matthewboothman129 Жыл бұрын
Skye is so over rated, they've bumped up all the prices so much its becoming stupid, the roads are a joke, skye brings in so much money but they won't use any of that money to repair the roads, only go to skye when not in tourist season I would say
@TravelTalesVlogs Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think next time we will try to go in the shoulder season 🙂
