Isleños also went to Texas, and parts of the Caribbean, such as Cuba and Puerto Rico.

The town of Quebradillas in Puerto Rico which is also the home of the famous German-descended Pirate Roberto Von Kupferschein (aka Cofresi) is predominantly settled by not only Basques, Mallorcans, Corsicans and Irish but also by boatloads of Canary Islander families...My Great-Grandmother who was born in 1898 was one of 8 sisters and all of whom were referred to in Quebradillas as "Las Islenas"...even to their deaths in the 1980s and 1990s.

This brings back fond memories of growing up in Delacrioux and spending time with my grandfather trapping, crabbing, and fishing. I love being Islenos.

Fui a ese festival varias veces cuando vivia en New Orleans LA. Es de lo maximo! El museo es pequeño pero inmediatamente te tranporta a otro tiempo y a otro espacio y sientes por dentro en tu pecho un pinchoncito de nostagia.

Well,Canarian islanders are not Spaniard...they're native people of Canary islands, but unfortunately in 15th century Spanish Empire conquered the islands and forced the natives to adopt their culture and language same as they did to Native American

@@aliffirfan9267 mistake, the canary islands were restock with people from the peninsule, after the elimination of the guanches by part of the french and portuguese conquist. The small amount of guanches, the natives from there, exist thanks to Spain, but the majority of canarians are from the peninsule, and Canary Islands are Spain.

You are showing meals and somethings of Spanish culture but the Canary culture it's not the same, thats meals not are from Canary islands and not are typical of the isleños. Canary islands belong to Spain but not are the same. I wouldn't like they replace their canary traditions for spanish traditions.

JD We have Canarian foods too. Our most famous soup we call caldo (caldo Isleño) that we eat in our homes is from the Canary Islands and is called puchero Canario there. The vast majority of us are Canarian, but a couple of the cooks at our yearly fiesta were from the peninsula of Spain and they cooked Iberian foods at the festival too, so that's what you are seeing. We don't eat those Iberian foods in our homes, that's just at our fiesta from a few Iberians that work there (at the fiesta there are both Canarian foods and Iberian foods, as well as Canarian honey rum, also Louisiana food too)
