Tall, narrow, and blindingly white, my faux Amiga 4000T sleeper pc, made by blending two vintage 486 full tower cases and a piece of translucent plexiglass, is a childhood dream come semi-true.

That is incredibly cool! Everything: the computer, the drive management, the copy of SimTower, the city map, and even the chair. Fantastic!

I wanna know how to improve air flow and cable management with old cases... I wish you don't stop recording videos... such good quality and such nice cases... you rock

Thanks! I plan to add to my sleeper how-to series soon... with air flow being one of the big topics (which also relates to cable management)

You will need a dremel to slice the chassis for cable management and airflow. It might also make the case a little lighter.

It's Beautiful, I've wanted to restomod an old beige Dell Dimension XPS myself, but the challenge to me is pairing a modern black monitor and painting it beige to match the tower, painting it with a Grey or blue Dell logo and everything! Can I ask what model number is that Acer monitor?
@GamingRetro

Sure! The monitor is the ED242QR wi

The fireplace and computer setup is very aesthetically pleasing. Awesome build, going to start my own as soon as I find a good case. Can’t believe I’ve thrown several old PC’s out over the years... they go for big money on Ebay now!

Man, I'm envious of these super tall builds. Playing Doom on a tall AT (looking) tower, that brings back memories. Of course, that was another version of Doom back then.

I like it alot. Suggestions: 1. add stuff like cardreaders to the 3.5" slots, 2. add an I/O shield, 3. use a beige CRT sony trinitron monitor (however the white lcd also looks good)

wow... i loved that hot-swap SSD and HDD you have there.. that's really neat & practical especially when you have a dead SSD that needs to be replaced when the time comes... and that's really cool.

Suggestion for the floppy bays. I do a similar thing with old cabinets and often put a 3.5 inch bay card reader in one of the spaces. Or if you know someone with a 3dprinter you could print a grill to close the space but still allow some airflow.

This looks like the kind of case I'd use if I built a sleeper rig. I like the hard drive caddies and Blu-ray drive. You don't see an optical drive on many sleeper rigs. However, I would keep the 3½" floppy drive. I saw Dr. Moddenstine's video on his IBM Aptiva sleeper PC where he repurposed the floppy drive as a SD card reader. He used the disks as caddies. I thought that was cool. Nothing like breathing new life into old technology. If I used this case or something similar for a sleeper, that's what I'd do.

It's probably true that antique and historical computer cases can be converted into gaming rigs with all new parts, which some might call "the ultimate sleeper bootlegs".

Nice build. I would of put a 140mm (or 120mm) intake at the bottom of the case flooring (between the feet) and an 120mm exhaust fan zipped to the PCI slots below your graphics card.

I have a similar case, but I can't use it in a modern build due to the lack of airflow. How did you cut the hole for the 120mm fan on the back? Thanks .

It was a 486 case in its former life... try looking on eBay for a 486 case or vintage computer case -- there's usually a few on there that could be similar with some mods.
