Great job by you, but so stupid by IWC. Seiko can make the magic lever ratchet wheel from steel and it works too and is probably more shock tolerant and 100 times less expensive.

I would imagine the reasoning was - like with any design where forces are involved - let's choose the weak point rather than let an accident decide for us. By stripping one gear completely, you save all the others. In the long run, it might be actually much cheaper approach.

iwc portoghese montava un normale valijoux, oggi fa pezzi normali a prezzi abnormi, orologi simili al khaki Hamilton a prezzi folli, un po' tutta l'orologeria è impazzita, io ho qualche pezzo ma ho smesso di acquistare qualunque orologio perchè ho ben altri problemi reali nel 2020, l'ultimo fu il pepsi Tudor gmt, fine, perdendo il mercato Russo tanti hanno alzato i prezzi a dismisura vedi Longines che non monta nulla di speciale, mercato impazzito, poi nell'usato si tende a perdere tantissimi soldi...... Ti seguo da tanto sei un grande, qui si vedono però le lacune di iwc, brand non all'altezza dei prezzi e della sua fama (da me e molti appassionati iwc rappresenta il peggio dell'orologeria, peccato che oggi, molti son sullo stesso piano)....
