I live on the 49th parallel in western Washington. Over paneling is a way of life here. If you want (need) 100 Watts of power, you'd better get 250-400 Watts worth of panels. Even then, it is difficult to fully charge a Jackery E1000 on a single winter day. I've never seen a panel get anywhere near the "rated" output up here. Even on a sunny day in July and that is testing using a Victron MPPT controller into a dummy load.

Thank you for this fantastic product review!!! I bought two of these. They will offer an outstanding match with my use case, which is to charge my new VTOMAN Jump 1500 Battery. It has a max solar charge input of 200 watts which lines up perfectly with the output of the two 4-panel sets. Also I have a four MC4 port Victron charge controller on my sailboat (connected to my 2 bank agm battery bank) to which I connect another 175 watt solar panel. This means that I can actually connect both of the two new panel sets each to available MC4 ports on the Victron. I can either add to my boat’s existing battery bank charging, increasing it’s charge input considerably, or use the two new solar panel sets to keep charging my VTOMAN battery. I use that one to run other devices separately while not depleting the boat’s main battery bank. You can’t have enough power when away from dock at the island, trust me. For example we will now be able to run our icemaker, 12 volt fridge/freezer and microwave without tapping into main power!

Good presentation! I bought a Badar suitcase deal. 120watts advertised output. It failed to ever reach 120 watts, no surprise. (In desert so plenty of sun) Panel has little dimple on fave that collect dust real easy requiring constant cleaning. This panel have those dimples? Case look like the Badar I bought.

Yeah, I'm guessing that ETFE laminate is the dimples or pebble-like surface you're referring to. I can see how it might catch dust pretty easily, especially in a windy desert environment. I've also never gotten max rated output from any of my panels..EXCEPT the Jackery 100W actually. I really do like the Jackery - I just don't think it's SO much better as to be worth a 50% price premium.

Yes (and yes on pass-thru charging for most power stations - just know that with Rockpals, it seems to be DC pass-thru only and not AC). It's all going to depend on what type of power-draw your fridge has to determine what size power station you'd need. If you're talking a 12V portable fridge, then most anything in the 500W and up category would get the job done. If you're talking a full-size fridge, most likely you're going to want something in the 2000W category.

No. None of these portable panels will allow you to control the output voltage directly. You'll need a charge controller (and battery) for that.

The Jackery 100w panel has a max output on the Type-C port of 15W, while the Elecaenta Type-C is PD45W. Not a huge deal really, but if you want quick charge of USB devices directly from the panel, OR might ever want to use this as a 2nd panel to charge a dual-charge compatible Power Station, you'd definitely prefer the PD45W over plain Type-C.

Yes, BUT!!! I'd advise against directly connecting the main output of the solar panel to your laptop since the fluctuations in voltage have the potential to cause problems with your laptop. Instead, you could connect and charge through the USB module, using the Type-C port - which is a PD45W connection - so not SUPER fast charge, but definitely will work. If you don't have another use for the 120W panel, you might consider looking for something in the 75W-100W range that has a PD60W Type-C port on it instead - less money (potentially) and slightly faster charging.

You definitely can. You'd need an appropriate parallel adaptor like this: amzn.to/3azZ7g8 Also, keep in mind that when connecting panels in parallel, you want the output specs (volts and amps) of the panels to be approximately the same. That said, the output differences between these 2 panels are not substantial and shouldn't pose a problem - but be aware that the performance of the higher-spec'd panel will likely be 'dumbed-down' to that of the lower spec'd panel.

I do not think that the Elecaenta panel comes with an 8mm plug. If so what what the solution to connect them together and how much extra cost was that ?

The "8mm" connector usually refers to the DC7909, unless you have one of the newer Jackery Pro models which use the slightly larger DC8020 connector. But in either case, the Elecaenta 120W should have you covered for both of those sizes, since the 3 way cable has the DC8020 and the adapter tips include a DC7909. And as far as connecting them together, what you need will depend on what you're connecting to on the power station end. You could connect them in series using just the MC4 adapter cable that they come with, and then you'd only need an MC4 to whatever you're power station uses. Or you could use MC4 parallel branch adapters instead (but you'd have to buy those obviously). And keep in mind that whether you go with series or parallel will mostly depend on the specs of what you're connecting to. If that device doesn't support at least 36V DC input, you'll want to go with a parallel connection. In either case, you're probably under $20 for an adapter cable, but you'd probably only need one if you have to go with a parallel conneciton. I hope that helps.

I’m trying to figure out which solar panels to buy for my generator. Can a panel exceed its Isc like it can the Voc? My generator input is max 30v and 10A. So if I wanted a single panel, the panel output Voc is 24v (*1.25 temp adj factor) and Isc 10a But do I need to worry about the Isc increasing based on conditions? That is, is there a temp adj factor for the Isc I need to consider? Thanks.

I don't think you'll need to worry about that as long as you're keeping under the 30V max input. The Charge Controller in the power station most certainly has over-current protection and will throttle back the current when/if necessary.

New Subscriber needing some advice Please! I just ordered a Vevor 12V, 53qt dual zone car fridge and a Acopower 100W 12V monocrystalline solar panel that will installed on top of our Suburban. That’s all the room on top cause of the roof cargo boxes. Using Bluetti EB55. Will this be enough solar for it keep up running that fridge?(nothing else). Should I add a narrow flexible solar panel (say 50watt) on one my cargo boxes? Problem is I hear nothing but bad about those. Thank for any insight or ideas!

So, there are a lot of variables here that could affect your actual results. If we assume that the car fridge uses about 45Wh of capacity per hour on average, the EB55 (which I'm just about to start testing/review haha) will get your about 10 hours of fridge runtime without any offset recharging. The 100W panel should net you between 300-600W per day during decent sky conditions (I'm trying to account for the realities of variable sun-alignment of a fixed mount on a car). If these assumptions hold true, the math is pretty tight and, without supplemental charging via the car's 12V port, you'll likely get into situations where you're not able to top-off the EB55 throughout the day AND keep the fridge powered. Additional solar would definitely help make the math work...as would using the fridge without setting 1 zone for freezer (and keep in mind that ambient temps will also significantly affect actual fridge power draw). Hope that helps!

Absolutely possible. You just need a charge controller between the solar panel and the battery to charge your battery safely. You might want to add a fuse between the battery and the dry washer, depending on how your dry washer connects.

Yeah - "over-paneling" is generally not a problem since the River Pro's charge controller will throttle as necessary. The bigger challenge in this case is coming up with a parallel adapter cable connector combination that fits the River Pro's XT60 input (or the XT60 to MC4 adapter they include). You could go DC7909 to Anderson parallel adapter: amzn.to/3Juanrk and then add an Anderon to MC4: amzn.to/3bzMXnR which connect to the XT60 to MC4 cable your River Pro comes with. There might be a more direct cable connection, but it'd no doubt take some searching since EcoFlow doesn't seem to want to make that easy unless your panels are native MC4, which is common on rigid panels, but not so much on portable/foldable panels (unless you buy their premium-price panels).

Tough question to answer since the circumstances (and output) are likely to be extremely variable. But generally, if we assume a 100W panel...and further assume a sunny day, but not directly aligned, you might reasonably expect anywhere between 10W to 60W. Probably not a satisfying answer, I know....

@@dronetheworld4k67 One way to test would be to buy a cheap low-wattage solar panel (like a 50-60W panel maybe) and then see how many watts it produces in comparison to its rated output. One thing you'll definitely want to be concerned about is that most household and commercial windows have some amount of UV blocking baked-in, which means that even in direct sun, you're going to have lowered output (probably significantly so) with that window sitting between the panel and the sun. Sue, for the E1500 Pro I would strongly recommend 2 - 200W panels. The Elecaenta 120W would work thru the 100W input side, but it's take a long while to charge at only 100W input (couldn't fully charge it that way in just a single day). The other input on the left says it needs at least 32V - so that means you'd really want 2 - 200W panels connected in series - and that would allow you to fully re-charge in 1 full day of sun. If you want to go budget portable, 2 of the Allpowers 200W amzn.to/3COWiTG would be reasonable. If you didn't need foldable/portable, you could go with something like 2 of the Rich Solar 200W: amzn.to/3VvNf1l

If you have the original Jackery E1000, you can connect the 2 panels in parallel to get some extra watts, but I suspect you won't get all that much more out of the 2nd panel due to the DC input limits of the E1000. If you happen to have the E1000 Pro, you can definitely improve charge times by putting both panels in parallel. The difference in the output specs between the 2 panels will pull the output of the 120w panel down to the 100w panel...but since the difference in spec is not all that great, it shouldn't be a concern in this particular case.

Typically you would want a parallel connector. You can find these on Amazon, and you want to be sure you get something with the appropriate male-end connector to fit your power station...so likely a DC5521, DC7909, or Anderson. The split end is probably not as big a concern since these panels have adaptors for just about everything (except MC4). The USB ports are really just intended for charging cell phones and tablets and maybe small USB power banks. The main output cable is for charging portable power stations. You'd then use the power station to power your other devices. So the combination of the panel with the power station gives you a solar generator.

I have 2 of the Jackery 200W panels that I got in a kit with batteries. They work well, but honestly that are WAY over priced! I want to add 4 more, but even on black friday sale, they are over 200% more than nearly every other panel out there. I cannot mindfully justify paying 200% more for a panel, no matter how good the panel is (it isnt 200% better than a competitor's panel). Jackery needs to find a solution for the over-pricing of their panels. To show it is on purpose, Jackery is filtering reviews on their website, and on Amazon too! Hoping to reach people here, so they can make an educated decision on buying panels

Hi Mari! Thanks for the kinds words! I've done a review on the Jackery 1000, and very recently the 2000W AceVolt which is definitely worth a look (very solid unit with great capacity at a reasonble price...and charges in < 2 hours via AC). I've got a 1400Wh capacity unit and another 1000Wh unit I'm testing for video review right now that should be posted in the next couple of weeks. I"m also planning on a video very soon that will be a Buyer's Guide - not brand specific, but will give you all things to be aware of and consider when trying to figure out what's the best choice for you. So, yeah, maybe check out a couple of other reviews I've done and also a couple that are coming very soon. I think they'll help you alot.

Just looked at their website and it looks like the Home Power One DC input has a Max of 200W (which is better than the Jackery 1000 btw, which Max at 163W). So, yeah, you can definitely do it. You'd just need a parallel adaptor. I even found one for you on Amazon that goes to the Anderson connector DC input on your Generark: amzn.to/3kWvlUe

Not a dumb question at all! Yes...but it also depends on the Jackery model and its max DC input. If you have at least a 1000W Jackery, you can get a parallel adaptor from Jackery for that. If less than 1000W, I wouldn't bother due to the input max being

Well, how often are conditions absolutely perfect where you can get the max rated output from the panel? I'd wager not all that often...and in that case, a panel with higher rated output (theoretically) will still get you more usable watts.

Funny you should ask that quesion! I'm actually planning a video to demonstrate that very use-case...but I won't be able to get to that for a couple of months, most likely. I'm still doing my research on these kinds of builds, so I'm not an expert - but based on what I've learned so far, I can tell you this. You'll need a Charge Controller and an AC Inverter. If you're just charging that 1 battery with 1 or 2 100W panels, a 20A PWM Change Controller should work for you just fine and they're pretty inexpensive - or you can upgrade to an MPPT charge controller as an option. The AC inverter you'll want to get will largely depend on how much Watt draw you want to support (ie how much sustained power you want to be able to pull out of the batttery)...and that will be determined by what device(s) you want to be able to power at the same time. How long you can power those devices will of course be constrained by your 100Ah battery capacity. :) I hope that helps.

Yes it would definitely work with the Delta Pro...BUT I'd strongly recommend looking at a 200W panel (or panels) for something with that kind of capacity.

Looks like the River uses an XT60 input - which is not as common and the Elecaenta doesn't come with that type - so you'd need an adaptor cable. The biggest barrel connector on the set of 10 is the 7.9×0.9mm that fits the Jackery 1000 (and below). For the 1500, Jackery support seemed to be saying they would ship you an adapter for free if you requested it. Also, I think your 1500 should have come with an parallel adapter to take two panels into a single DC input. Those panels inputs should also work with this panel since they were designed to work with the Solar Saga 100 which uses that same 7.9×0.9mm connector. I hope that helps.

Thx for the timely review, just getting into this whole portable solar thing. Quick side question: what kind of grass is that in your awesome front yard? Looks nice and full, yet shaggy and soft. We've stripped our yard and seed planted Bahia, but it's growing in spotty. We've also purposely avoided St Augustine. Perhaps your grass is only suitable for northern climates -- central Florida here. (Also nice to see keyboards and drums, I've got used Kronos61 and Nord Stage 2 keyboards).

But I know there some sabre tooth tiger and more in a fossil site in Melbourne. However, when I visited Germany years ago, I did see fossils in a cave. They even set one tourist cave up with a full life-sized (huge) reconstructed cave bear skeleton.

yeah apparently the product demand my video created caught them by surprise and ran them out of stock. I reached out to Elecaenta and they informed me that re-stock is on the way to Amazon US, but probably won't be available until late May.
