So proud of both of these attorneys (regardless of race or gender). Both are competent and would make excellent Jackson County Prosecutors. Both offer great ideas (which is more than I can say for other politicians). I wish we could combine both of their visions. I know Tracey, and can assure you that she is brave, hard-working, tireless, and honorable. I never saw her break a sweat in our Fredrick Douglas Moot court competitions. Melesa seems innovative and professional. Good luck to both in the future.

Vote republican! Make America safe again!

The state of law enforcement in Jackson County is so bad a drastic change from the status quo is needed and the candidate who seems most likely to bring that about is Tracey Chappell. It is hard to vote for a Republican but a Conservative Party needs to reconstruct itself. Traffic crime is rampant and the candidate most likely to bring back traffic stops is Ms. Chappell.

I hate how Tracey is more focused on trying to put her opponent down verses talking about how she will fix things. Thats not a good look. Melesa tripped her up on her being terminated. Not good enough for Bluesprings how can she be good enough for Jackson County...daymmm. Im LOVING Melesa. She is one of us and for us and passionate about our county and the people! I really needed to see thia debate to make my final decision as I have personally spoke with both of these women and my mind is officially made up! Ready for new, young and innovative change in Jaxkson County! 💙

Tracey Chappell for prosecutor!!! We need someone who is tough on crime and not dream talking about programs and strategies that likely will take years to put in place, and require money we don’t have. The thugs know that KC is soft on crime and for this very reason we are seeing an exponential rise in crimes in our city, my neighborhood is still in shock after the killing of Shaun Brady, an amazing individual who owned the restaurant Brady& Fox in the Brookside area, a couple of thugs trying to steal a car behind his restaurant decided to end his life when he tried to stop them. We need more police in the streets NOW!! We need a police department that answers our calls when we dial 911 not put us on hold!!! A 911 call is almost always an emergency, a home invasion or an active shooting CANNOT be put on hold! It is shameful that this has been taking place for years now in Kansas City and it continues to persist as if it was normal. I also read that we are 300 police officers short, the police department needs more funds. I just find it shameful that we have invested so much money to completing the street car project but have trouble figuring out how to invest in safety???

Melesa is simply unqualified for the job. She's never been the lead attorney in a trial as a prosecutor or defense attorney. She's prosecuted like...3 trials. This office is too important to turn over to an unqualified attorney.
@Mnj21052 ай бұрын
Fortunately, this is not true. I have done every aspect of criminal trials including opening statements, cross examinations, direct examinations, preparing jury instructions etc for extremely violent offenders. I am the only candidate that has intricately performed in felony prosecutions. I won office wide rookie of the year in the prosecutors office because I tried 7 jury trials in 1 year. I also tried cases in the civil realm.

Also, my opponent has never been the lead attorney in a felony prosecution. Which is why I stated that it’s important to tell the full story

@@Mnj2105 How many were you the first chair attorney on? Because your former co-workers in the Jackson County Prosecutors office all recall you being a passenger with a very brief career. You're not qualified to lead the office.
@Mnj21052 ай бұрын
All prosecutions I’ve handled are public information. Even Jean would vouch for my advocacy in the court room. I also tried cases in the civil realm. It’s unfortunate that my opponent’s platform is dissecting my resume instead of real strategies to keep us safe. The elected prosecutor is also not regularly in the courtroom. I will continue to focus on strategies that strengthen the office instead of disrespecting someone’s contributions to profession. Oh, and I’ve never been fired in my decade long career.

@@Mnj2105 Melesa, it's weird that you keep referring to Tracey as "my opponent". Stop talking like a politician and be a real person. Second, you had an EXTREMELY short career in the DA's office. You've got virtually no experience in criminal law. I don't live in Missouri and have no ties to Ms. Chappell. I just know that YOU aren't qualified for the job. You'll win because you're a Democrat in KCMO and have Q's blessing, but you're nothing more than a politician who can't fix the issues that office has.

Anyone is better than Jean Peters Baker
@williamjacob14962 ай бұрын
I strongly disagree. Jean was awesome. She is not the police. Being intentionally absent in the streets and refusing to answer the phone (just to manufacture political points) is not her fault. Having no place to put low level drug offenders, again not her fault. The Mayor picked a fight with the state over bringing the police under the KC umbrella, which is where they belong by any reasonable, objective measure; and they've maliciously punished Kansas City for it, ever since...raiding its coffer while offering substandard service. I appreciated the humanity that Jean showed in doing her job, in deciding the tough decisions that came with it. I was there for much of the Kevin Strickland trial. I hate when lawyers treat people, black kids, like numbers, so heartless and cold. I am tough, and I do not spare the rod, but I love my fellow citizens, all of them.
