This my first take on the Ron Hardy Tribute Mix of The Jacksons' 'Living Together'. Nice, I like it! Reminds me of me back in 1976, turning 16 that year & enjoying this & many other tunes that I recognized coming out of Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. This native New Yorker was ironically high on 'Philly Infatuation'- besides the Philly Sound were the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, 76ers, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and the movie musical '1776'. Never lived there. My father was born in Boston, but destiny led him to prosper in New York where he met and married my New York mom. I'm the second of three and the only son, a long time resident of Uniondale, Long Island. God bless and long live 'The Sound of Philadelphia'! T-Ham, Uniondale, NY

Wow ... after all of this time this is my first time really hearing this version! I remember the excitement when they left Motown for Philly International Records to record the album "The Jacksons" in 1976, which is the album that this song was on. But with 4 solid radio hits from this album, I never really paid this song much attention. I think that part of the problem is that the album version was too fast. Ron slows it down and gives it more punch. Less emphasis on vocals and more on the instruments. So now it has a much more danceable beat. The Jacksons left Motown mainly for more artistic freedom and also money. In Philly, Gamble and Huff worked with them now as young men. They also tutored them especially Michael on song writing. On this version it's easier to hear that Philly Sound. MSFB was the main orchestra for the record label Philly International. It was composed of moonlighting pro musicians many from the world renown Phila Orchestra. And yes, we did hear them on the Ojays material, Harold Melvin Blue Notes and the others that came through Philly. Got to give credit to Dexter Wansel for the song writing on this one. The album should have done better than Gold. But I think that many fans were still trying to adjust to the fact that these guys were so much older. Motown wanted them to be another Temptations. But as we saw, they went on to do their own thing.
