The most beautiful car in the world. These were developed off the back of 1950s c and dtype winners at lemans, so the etype is a proper thoroughbred with real racing roots. The wing mirror you have there is non standard. They actually came with none! Also remember the fixed heads (coupes) came in 2 seater configuration which is arguably the purest of Sayers design. They were basically designed by ex aircraft designers out of ww2. The powerplant famously being drawn up in air raid shelters of ww2... It's a mini Merlin 👍 the 3.8s had non synchro on first gear, but are more delicate as a result. Proper drivers cars and one of the best things to come out of this country alongside the Spitfire and Mallard! I love mine 😘

Hi Adam . I can see some people just don't like "e" types, what ever floats your boat. I have the identical car albeit with a four speed box with overdrive! (overdrive not fitted as standard) . No one has pointed out that the car does not have Weber carburretors from the factory. They were fitted with triple S.U. 's. The car is far more responsive with those webers and the 5 speed box. I can tell you were pleasantly surprised. Thankyou.

The indicators are *not* on the wrong side, they are on the correct side for a RHD car. You indicate and change gear at the same time... Japanese cars used to be like these too but then we Brits and the Japanese caved in to the mass produced demands of the USA & mainland Europe.

Double de-clutching. Not completely necessary with this particular car, but I found it made for a smoother gear change.
@AlCasa524 жыл бұрын
The engine revs are dropping below the point of the next up shift. He is giving a blip to match the revs of the next shift. Usually done on double clutch shifts because it is a slower gear change

@AdamC30464 жыл бұрын
Not entirely sure which gearbox was fitted, but it is a common modification for the E-Type, as it was never fitted with overdrive, so 4 gears were not enough for modern-day driving.
@graemew70014 жыл бұрын
@@AdamC3046 Thanks Adam, I drove a few E-Types over 30 years ago when I was an apprentice in a classic car garage and even back then I thought they could have done with a fifth gear, nice to see someone has managed to fit one.

Probably a tremec.. or a T-5 cosworth box.. we use tremecs if we do a 5 speed conversion.. but the 4 speed in the 4.2 is plenty fine with the correct rear diff ratios .. there were many options on rear diffs. One of ours will do 145 ish in 4th no trouble
