Yes. I remember the episode MY MISSED PERCEPTION when all she wanted to photograph the entire staff... except him. And... that was the problem. My favorite stuff with The Janitor was when he wasn't torturing J.D. When he was just... coming across as a human being like everyone else...

Considering the fact that it was showed earlier in the series that Janitor has different names, I think that this was to throw off the audience or he legitimately was messing with J.D.; however, with the vibe from this and with Bill Lawrence actually saying that Glenn Matthews is his real name, that suits me. Regardless, I like to think that Glenn is his actual name. And, even though that J.D. and Janitor were often at odds, they do have some wholesome moments. Even though in the beginning in the series it was obvious that they were at odds, but I think they actually didn’t mind each other’s company. I do wonder what Scrubs would’ve been like if they were more friendly. I bet it would’ve been just as great.

Originally during Season 1 Janitor was supposed to be a figment of JD's imagination but they liked the actor so much that they rewrote his character. You can tell because throughout most of season 1 he only interacts with jd

well they never actually named the character in the scripts he was called the janitor until they decided to reveal his real name in the season 8 finale which was intended to be the end of the show so his real name is Glenn Matthews.

Yep. Glenn... think of it like this: He tells JD, because JD isn't around. He keeps his name secret to everyone else in the hospital because... well, that's always what he does. Plus another intern puts a penny in the door and it begins all over again - The Janitor has a new victim.

He was also meant to be a figure of JD's imagination, not interacting with the other characters in the early episodes. They weren't sure if they wanted to keep going that route, though, and eventually changed gears to make him a real person. That's why he didn't have a name in the scripts til this episode.
