"It's better than a cold bath with someone you dislike." One of the best lines ever.

Of course, Pat couldn't resist having some fun with this line sometimes. The two variants I remember are "...with Nazis on cocaine" and "...with an oversexed tarantula."

A delicious little bitter sweet morsel...saw them in 1988, wish I had done so again; despite the idiocy of some of these beer garden punters, they perform with grace...

Fantastic! Back in the day I was working in a late night used book store in a cold Canadian town. I was chatting with a friend about whether or not we were going to go see The Jazz Butcher play that night while a bunch of guys perused the used cassettes and CDs. They all left and a couple of minutes one came back and asked if I'd seen Pat. "Er, no." I said wondering who Pat was. The guy then asked if I was going to the gig. "What gig? Do you mean the Jazz Butcher?" cont.

It still hadn't twigged. It wasn't until he asked if I wanted to be on the guest list that I realized that that group of guys was The Jazz Butcher. I must have turned a spectacular shade of red. I have no idea who it was I talked to that night but I enjoyed the show and his act of kindness taught me that it isn't necessary to be a great dick to be a great musician.

Bloody Nonsense, like much of the Butcher's material, has been out of print for a long, long time. Bloody Nonsense, in particular, was only ever released on LP & Cassette. Those might occasionally be found on eBay. Your best bet would be one of the Glass era compilation CDs: "Draining the Glass" or "Cake City". The former can be found on itunes, along with "A Scandal in Bohemia", "Distressed Gentlefolk", 'Cult of the Basement", "Condition Blue", "Rotten Soul" and "Glorious & Idiotic". Good luck!
