@@ramansv3681 I personally think Magnus was frustrated with his own performance and made drama to distract from actually losing his Rapid title over the board. I do like Magnus, but he can be a doofus sometimes. I mean, a similar example is the Hans Nieman thing. Hans never cheated against Magnus, and Magnus' ego took the wheel when he lost fairly. Ultimately they settled out of court, probably involving a small fortune from Magnus.

He could have adhered to the rules and also laid his complaint. I agree that jeans should be allowed, but I disagree with Magnus' style of dealing with it. He could have been smarter and still got the rules changed.

Magnus is just spitting on face of FIDE. He came late & with jeans on. FIDE should not have allowed him to play, if that took the decision. This sends really wrong msg to all players. I think FIDE is not fit to organize these games. Magnus is definitely having ego problem. Otherwise I don't think any player will refuse simple rules set by authority of regarding sport. Discipline is mandatory.

There is no authority of the sport. Just an illusion created by FIDE and accepted thus far. Players must take back their power and self organise.

That jeans rule is dumb and needs to go. FIDE is not there to indulge in power trips. They are there to ensure the event goes without any issues. Their job is to organise chess and cater to any problems that players might face. It's not a position of power, it's a position of responsibility
