Removable features: A letter tracing the book's history, a severed Padawan braid, a metal Jedi Credit medallion, a Jedi starfighter patch, a burned poster of the Jedi Code, a map of the Jedi Temple, a lightsaber diagram sketched on the back of a napkin from Dex's Diner, and a note on the missing pages torn from the book by a Sith.

Packard, if this happens again, here is some information to have in your pocket that might impress your friends. The force is actually just a new name for a very old (thousands of years old) concept that has been a key foundation of Eastern religions - notably Hinduism and Buddhism. In the West, we tend to view God as transcendent to the material reality in which we live - living outside of it, creating it, and kind of managing it as the CEO of the universe. In the East, though, most people of faith view divinity as immanent - meaning it is actually contained within the creation, and lives through the creation. The material universe is in a sense viewed as the physical body of God, and our personal interactions and relationships are just a process of God perceiving itself. Hindus would call th divine presence that exists in all things the Atman, or in a close English approximation, the All. It's my understanding that George Lucas consciously drew from these teachings of Eastern religions to infuse the Star Wars films with the idea of the Force. While the movies and books are fantasies, they have roots in traditional religions accepted by hundreds of millions of people. Stating that you believe in the Force does not necessarily mean you rely upon a fictional concept that has no basis in reality; instead, you are experiencing God much as people in India, China, and other nations have done for millenia, and just applying 20th-century language to very old ideas. If your friends see that you have some understanding of things that runs more deeply than just the content of an adventurous film, they might have a new perspective.
