I recently got a big inheritance from my grandparents and was considering getting a new car. But after looking at new cars I'm going to keep rocking with my 5.7L 2006 WK with 240,000 miles. Not burning oil, AC blowing cold, no lights or codes on the dash. It's been so good to me and it's rewarding keeping her on the road.

You should!! Totally good vehicle

WJ yes . WK no. WKs ride great and are comfortable and the brakes are great but everything else is garbage. The 4.7 is slow unless it is an H.0. the interior falls apart, the body has all kinds of pockets that hold road salt. 17" wheels have limited tire choices. Good luck getting the lower strut bolts out. The sun roof leaks water the dash lights all burn out. There is no oil pressure gauge. The rear cup holder broke the inside door handles broke. The 4x4 system is fantastic in snow and ice but I feel offroad it would be likely to get stuck easily. Gets horrible gas mileage. A full size Ram 4x4 hemi gets the same gas mileage, 16mpg at the best. Etc.

I like the WKs they still felt pretty utilitarian. The limited and overland looked nice. Hated how bland the laredos etc looked. WJs are definetly more reliable and stronger but the WKs will always have a place in my heart like WJs.

Ive had 3 WK (2x2008 1x2009) and I still "daily" my 2009. Super comfortable, fairly reliable, smooth & quiet. One of the hidden gems of these (besides the seats) is the Boston Acoustics sound system. Very good IMO, never even thought about upgrading it. I would not be afraid of the 4.7L, esp in the 08+. It makes 305hp/335tq. My first WK had the 5.7L, the rest have had the 4.7L. Really hated the MDS. The 4.7L gets hands down better MPG anyway. Powerwise they are close and its hardly noticeable (at least the 305hp vs the 330hp 5.7L variant) . The 5.7L was a beast, i buried my speedo a few times with just an intake & tune.. it also broke quite quickly after that. Probably cant go wrong with either but the 4.7L feels far more refined. Especially when the 5.7L kicks between 4 and 8 cylinders.

The last of the real Quadradrive 2. The WK2 does not have the electronic LSD on the front. Instead it gives Quadratrac function on the front.

I liked the Quadra-Drive in the WJ better, neither differential was electronic, both had visco-locking type differentials, fully mechanical, no electronic crap to fail.

I still have my 2010 WK North edition with the 5.7 l engine and Quadra-drive II with only 119,000 km on it. Bought it for towing my 5,500 lbs travel trailer, wich it did superbly. Of course it is a gaz guzzler but you get what you pay for in power, comfort and amazing handlind in winter conditions we have 4-5 months a year here in Québec. Thanks for the review. i have a 2010 wk laredo 4x2 hemi-optioned up like a limited-owned since new-not quite 40k miles. it isnt big on the inside like other midsized suvs-but it is most definitely fun to drive and fast with the hemi. i have a magnaflow exhaust, cai, diablosport programming, performance sway bars and installed a yukon gear limited slip differential-i did this because it is squirrelly in the wet with the hemi-the electronic nannies are not fast enough-and a throttle booster-if you do just one performance improvemen do that to get the lag out of the throttle. i dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon-it has been my most trustworthy vehicle. after 14 years i cannot complain. downside-because it is jeep the parts are more. i went to california once-coming back in new mexico where it is flat-over 26 mpg with the a/c on....the hemis get good mileage on the highway if you arent lead footing it and set the cruise.

@BernonCars would you recommend this rig as a reliable daily driver and some weekend trips? Looking to buy one with 100k miles in phenomenal condition but a bit worried about maintenance and reliability of the 5.7 hemi
@BernonCars3 ай бұрын
They're pretty reliable but they have their fault points! A lot of small nonsensical items throughout to possibly annoy the crap out of you overtime haha. Like things breaking
@wildbill23cАй бұрын
The problem is, was the maintenance kept up on it in those 100k miles? Without all the maintenance records it may not be in phenomenal condition like you think....I fell for that with my 98 ZJ....looked great inside and out for 153k it still looked new, but the previous owner neglected every simple amount of maintenance....engine developed a low end knock that kept getting worse, and the transmission decided to puke transmission fluid all over my carport one day....only had the Jeep about a year and got rid of it due to all the maintenance issues thanks to the previous owner.

The WK is the first bad Grand Cherokee. They became the more expensive to work on, Mercedes Grand Cherokees. And had the bad MDS multiple displacement system (active fuel management) with General Motors. But it's the exact same system. I'll never own one. I would own a WJ.
