I'm ok with the Voth changes since their militaristic posture is kind of explained by them claiming the Dyson Spheres as their property since they are extremely ancient and in the Delta Quadrant - therefore their ancestors must have built them since the Doctrine says they were the first species there and they were the only ones who could have built them. To the Voth the Spheres are their own lost relics and here come a bunch of interlopers infesting them and making bases on their spheres. In the end the Voth are seeing this as an invasion onto their space and relics by us so trying to blow us off them by force makes sense. The genetic dinosaurs with lasers strapped to their heads are ok by me since rule of cool/fun in the game. I really love the Voth though my one problem with them is their origins in Hadrosauridae/Parasaurolophus - not the smartest dinosaurs by a long shot. Better bet would have been the Troodons who were developing folded brains and other indicators of higher intelligence. The Star Trek novel "First Frontier" by Diane Carey & James I. Kirkland uses this concept with "Clan Ru" who are Troodon descendants who escaped the K-T Extinction and left Earth (and kind of want it back and hatch a scheme using Time Travel to stop the asteroid impact which devastated Earth). There is also a long history of Dinosauroids descended from Troodon in fiction/specuation such as Aritsune Toyota's Dinosauroid novels, Carl Sagan's Dragons of Eden, and Dale Russel's Dinosauroid thought experiment/model of an evolved Troodon. Going back to First Frontier, I kind of hope a splinter faction of Voth decide to accept the Distant Origin Theory and make a play to reclaim their ancient homeworld from the upstarts.

I can just imagine that debriefing. Hale: "So....funny story, you remember when we went to fluidic space? Where the species of shape shifting people who call themselves strong and us weak live? Well, while we were there, I found Dr. Cooper, and he had suddenly forgotten everything about his previous crew. Also, he kept talking about how the Undine were strong and humans were weak. I let him board my ship and took him home. So anyway, it turns out that at some point--almost certainly definitely a long time after I picked him up in fluidic space--he was replaced by an Undine! I'm sure we can all agree that that was a totally unforeseeable event that no one could have predicted and that I don't need to be reprimanded in any way."

Not to mention that the last time that shape-shifting aliens started infiltrating Alpha quadrant powers, the various powers nearly tore themselves apart through fear. Granted that one of the big three powers was essentially wiped out several years prior and the remaining two were at war with each other already, so not exactly sure how the Undine could destabilize things much further but still the lack of reaction this time around was conspicuously absent considering what happened with the changelings in DS9.

I don’t like the Klingons, they never learn, you’d think after what happened with the Dominion, they’d realize the strength of an alliance, but noooo, then with the Undine, they don’t talk to anyone, they start a war then yell about “infiltrators” and start boarding other peoples’ ships. Every time, every damn time, they gotta have their asses handed to them before they’re willing to listen, and then they just sort of forget afterwards. Klingon ship captain “We respect you noble warriors, and noble combat, and it was an honor to fight alongside you honorable Starfleet warriors, q’plah! Must admit that I'm a little annoyed, that the "Greater good" and "Working together forever" Story clichè are to prominent in STO. Neither the Republic nor the Empire would just step down and let the generous Federation dictate their every action. and while the Republic would probably not take an openly hostile posture towards the Federation, D'Tan had showed me that he is quick to take whatever advantage he can get. The Empire would probably just russle their guns at both Factions. And the Federation would make sure that the Republic understands that the Jolanae Sphere is the Federations "Property".
