FYI the Penguin skates over the Golden Triangle which is what Downtown Pittsburgh used to be referred to as. It’s from The Point, (AKA Point State Park formerly Fort Pitt, formerly Fort Duquesne circa the mid 1700s) to the beginning of the Strip and Hill Districts. It’s other two boarders are the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers the confluences of the Ohio River which begins at the point and flows to the Mississippi.

The best looking logo is the "Flying Penguin logo" or "Robo Penguin". 2nd is the Penguins logo used from 2002-2015 with the gold/black/white era. Best uniforms/jerseys are also from the same eras. 1993-2001 & 2002-2007.

I’m a fan of the Penguins in blue. I love the light blue road design you showed the picture of. Unfortunately, they only wore that one for three seasons from 74-75 to 76-77. I have the late 70s white jersey that you also have. I had trouble figuring out what name and number to put on it but I thought of a Winnipeg connection and went with 25 Carlyle.

As someone from Pittsburgh, all Pittsburgh teams must be black/yellow. It's a part of the culture. A blue jersey as a throwback a few nights a year is fine but the Pens must be black and yellow. That's the colors of the city.

I'm from Pittsburgh. My favorite jersey in their history is the pre Edge black, and Vegas gold jersey with the robo penguin on the shoulder. When the Reebok took over their jerseys where boring. If they had the robo penguin on the shoulder, and metallic gold it would have been better. I never cared for the 1980-92/ Current white jersey. I thought it would look better with the shoulders beeing black. The three stadium series Jerseys I thought where all great. The 2019 stadium series Jersey would have been more popular if we didn't loose. The only blue jerseys I liked where the final in that color scheme from 1977. I don't like the white robo penguin jersey, but I love the black robo penguin with the chest stripe.

The triangle has to be gold because the entire concept of the triangle was due to the point being known as the golden triangle. Pitts triangle actually represents the shape of downtown, between the three rivers

Robopen and the Blue Jersey Of Doom are 2 of my favorites, even though both have painful memories. I got a Blue Jersey in 2013 as a Christmas gift (back when I was a Pens fan) and they lost every time I wore it. Not to mention the injuries during those days. I still wear it occasionally and always get compliments. As for the Robopen, it's one of those jerseys that is the definition of the phrase "power of nostalgia." People back then didn't like it, but now everybody wants one. I was lucky enough to find one on Ebay for under 50 bucks last winter and it was like my childhood came back to life when I opened it up. When I was a kid, I played (and still do) tons of NHL 01/02/05 and I loved the Robopen jersey. To finally get one I could wear was one of those moments I wish I could relive over and over.

In case anyone else wants to know what the triangle represents. In downtown Pittsburgh we have an area called the golden triangle. It’s basically a park with a big water fountain and it’s where the 3 rivers Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela meet. If you look at an aerial view of the city of Pittsburgh it has sort of a triangle shape to it.

As a kid I remember the Penguins being super popular and everyone wanting Penguins jerseys because they won two Stanley Cup and we all liked Mario - and we were pretty much over it with the re-branded jerseys. I think I ended up with the white one for Christmas or something eventually and didn't wear it. I love those 2003 ones for some reason. I was days away from pulling the trigger on a Kovalev one but he was traded to the Rangers.

The Pens brought back the Black and Yellow in 2016 as a third, then wore it at home during the Cup run but they still had the Vegas Gold away, so they when they clinched in San Jose it was still Vegas Gold, then they switched it to the main and that's the last we saw of the Vegas Gold

Pens changed to black and gold after the Pirates and Steelers both won championships in 1979. The city flag of the Burgh is also black and gold. I believe the Bruins tried to keep them from switching but the original Pittsburgh NHL team was black and gold when the Bruins were brown and gold. The gold triangle behind the penguin on the logo is a reference to a city nickname golden triangle because downtown is where 2 rivers meet to form the Ohio river. Keep up the entertaining videos!

The black and gold is where it’s at. All of our 3 teams, steelers pirates and penguins wore black and gold forever until the penguins got the black and beige ones. I agree with you I mean they were ok but I’m glad they went back to the black and gold.

The early 2000s CCM Vegas gold jersey looks so much nicer than the 2005-2016 Reebok version because the "Vegas gold" on the Reeboks is just flat tan. The striping pattern is also cooler on the CCM ones.

Shannon I agree the blue jerseys are all excellent. I think the Penguins shouldn't have ever gone to Vegas gold they should have went back to blues. But I do still love the merrigold as you call it as it matches the other sports teams and they've seen their most success with that color. They absolutely need to go back to a blue 3rd jersey and if it were up to me I would make one of their two winter classic jerseys the main scheme and go back to powder and baby blue with navy blues.

I think the fake gold jerseys look better with the triangle than the official ones. The fake has a bit of a darker and slightly more orange color to the jersey but the more yellow gold in the logo

The robo-penguin really gets a bad rap. Should it have replaced the original penguin? No. Is it a bad logo? No. It's a solid alternate logo. The early 2000s set got it right with the old logo and the robo-penguin on the shoulders. Switch out the vegas gold for yellow on those, and you have an amazing look. The 90s white unis are are some of my favorites. And I agree, Pens blue jerseys look great (as alts only though).

I agree the Pens should return - FULL TIME, to dark blue, light blue, and white jerseys. Loved the 68-69 powder blues with the circle logo (i.e the "throwback" for the Winter Classic v Buffalo). But the later blue setup (until the black-and-gold era) was fine as well. Hated the "throwback" dark blue jersey worn during the infamous Outdoor Game vs WSH, where Crosby was blindsided and suffered injuries that made us all question if he could ever come back. They are not historic in any sense; the Pens never had that dark of a blue, and the homage to the first Pens jersey with all those awful stripes just makes me cringe. Likewise the Vegas Gold and black jerseys were not so great. So when the Pens returned to the 80's jerseys I was fine. I'm surprised anyone likes the re-brand in 92 to the "Pigeon". While futuristic, it was a very bad time to change (as noted in the video). They would have better to wait until the Vegas Gold era when the team sucked, until Crosby was drafted. So the Pens then return to the 80's versions, and now I'm kinda bored, so it was nice to see the 21-22 third jerseys, both home and away, using the script logo. Just a bit cleaner-looking to me. But if I had any say, the Pens would find a way back to blue!

The Penguins have said that they will never wear blue jerseys again. Too many injuries when wearing the blue. I believe Crosby had at lest 2 major injuries and I believe there were more injuries with blue jerseys. Blue is just cursed for the Penguins.

the pittsburgh penguins, when they had that 1991 black and yellow, and went back to it in 2017, that jersey and color scheme is sooooo iconic. that jersey style represents, imo, that basically this team has had lemieux or crosby as their starting center (1C) for the most part from 1984 till now and counting. and those 5 stanley cups the team won. didn't like robo-penguin, the vegas gold was retarded and the diagonal wanna-be rangers wasn't a good fit. the circular penguins logo is really nice and tastefully designed. the blue jerseys, don't like or hate them but i understand they were a part of the early penguins history. overall the penguins have had a good history. just please leave the current home and away jerseys as-is, they are so beautiful, and use a third jersey (whether it's the current yellow or change it up from time to time).
