I live in the US. I just love that Scottish accent. I absolutely love this band. Was in college when the first LP came out. Genius!!! In my opinion nothing later matched their debut. I never saw them live but I remember the stories: drunk, 20 minute sets, etc. Great!!!

@marcobazan41873 жыл бұрын
It's not entirely the opposite. They wanted to make pop noise rock and they did. The juxtaposition of mixing sweet pop vocals with heavy distortion worked well for them
They were the last true Rock N' Roll band. It's all over now kids.

I remember when this interview by Daniel Richler first aired on The New Music (the show hosted by JD Roberts, Laurie Brown, Jeanne Beker and DR) and it literally changed my musical perspective forever. Jan and Dean meets Velvet Underground meets Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound". Awesome, and thanks for posting.

Bobby G. and Spaceman 3, plus Daniel Richler from Much Music, Canada with the classic interview! This was shown at least five times a year, for about two decades on the station. Classic!
@asusmctablet91808 жыл бұрын
Meanwhile when Daniel interviewed Lou Reed, Lou cut the interview short cuz he wanted to go back to his hotel and stick his head back up his ass for another 15 years. One of these two interviews was punk, the other is a sad washed up loser who had a song once 15 years before.

Can you imagine people kicking off like this at an indie gig now? The 80s was all about tribalism, you could get your head kicked in at a gig or football match very easily.

Man, maybe it's because I've never seen any bad behavior at a gig in person before, but that little riot at the end was quite scary. I love post-punk/new wave music myself, but from watching that I can understand how it might've had a bad reputation at the time. Props to that guy in the cap at the end for criticizing the crowd and not the band.
