This is the in depth process I followed to machine the tailstock. The idea behind this video was that I keep saying this whole project is machinable with just manual machines, and then I promptly CNC machined the headstock. This video shows all of the methods I would have used on the headstock, as well as the footage of actually making the tailstock.

I'm going to vote to keep the narrated style as you give some valuable insight. It's really interesting to know why you are doing something a certain way when the answer isn't so obvious to people who don't do this for a living. Keep up the great work!

I like the narration. You don't ramble unnecessarily, and your explanations make it a lot easier for clueless newbies like myself to learn something.

Definitely prefer machining with narration, allows me to pick up the occasional good insight. (I liked the sine bar trick. Good stuff!) Merry Christmas/happy holidays Greg.

Does anodizing increase thickness of the part? What's the typical variation?

It does by a few microns, so it's not usually a big issue unless its for a super precision fit. Reamed holes can sometimes be a problem.

Tim Le ive seen anodize add anywhere from .0002 to .0025 Depends on the plater and how well they do what they do . I typically send out a sample and. When i get the sample back from plater i usually make adjustments on my end or theirs.
