The Jigga is without doubt a deadly tactic on it's day, but what difference does it make using a 6mm or 8mm pellet? How do they react underwater? Does it effect the rig? How fast do they fall and do different brands sink faster than others? Let's find out.
Thank you for watching, Check out the links below for tackle/products used in the video, cheers and until next time tight lines......

Good video. You have confirmed what a Rob and Jamie Hughes video found doing an underwater test. 8mm sink slightly slower than 6 or 4mm pellets

Scott, I really like these tests in the tank mate. The other thing, it feels like we are learning together rather than being taught if that makes sense? Well done mate👍

Late for this one, KZbin has just recommended it. I do the same as you said at the end, lift up sharply and let it sink slowly. I don't get many missed bites. I'm wondering if you could use Dynamite soft hooker pellets or even expanders? I might try this when I fish on Thursday. I'm new to this jig fishing but I really enjoy it. I was recently jigging for silvers on a standard size 16 hook with maggots and that worked really well. had some stonking roach up to 1lb, a few hybrids, and some bronze bream, so bream will;l come up in the water.

Another interesting tank video Scott. Easy to learn more by watching what happens and the small differences that you make. Just wondering if the 8mm took longer due to surface area and resistance of the water.

That was my thinking when I saw it but I need to do more comparisons I think....

Hi Scott, have you tried dropping the rig in with a tiny shot right above? (ie, touching hook eye) this might help to straighten out the bow altogether?? Just my thought!!

I use 4mm most of my jigga fishing

Try using a 4” hook length with all shot directly above the loop to loop and you don’t have the problem

Have you tried a heavier hook and shorter hook length?

Hi Scott. Why would you need different size Jigger floats for different size pellets ?
@Scottsalchemy
@Scottsalchemy 7 ай бұрын
No, I only change float size depending on how deep I want the bait to go on the drop

Using fluorocarbon hook length I found reduced the slack on the lift and drop, it's slightly stiffer than mono, psychology or not I think I miss less bites,, food for thought

I've been wondering that myself actually and nearly tied some different hook lengths to look at the stiffness etc.....maybe a project for the future

How about putting stoppers instead of shots/stotz. Think it will slow down the sinking of the pellet. Don't try sinking the rig without a pellet on cause it won't work without wieght. Have a try

Shorten your hooklength (3" or 4") will sort your problem. Its been proved that 8mm and 4mm sink much slower than 6mm.

why are you using such a long hooklength ? i use a 3 or 4 inch hooklength, bulk of shot above the knot. mostly fishing it on Bennies or other ponds at Lindholme. get most fish while lowering it down, just pull laccy out.
