Jimi's manager brought him to Maui to make a bad hippy film called "Rainbow Bridge" and this was a makeshift concert for the film. It was filmed on Maui on the side of Haleakala volcano and was basically announced to locals the day of the show. Interesting story in general about how it all came together. There is documentary about it.

From memory, this is taken from a film called 'Rainbow Bridge' hence not that many people were in attendance, it was a film about hippie culture and life at the time (1970 ish).

What is truly tragic about this performance is that, about 8 weeks later, Jimi died. Drink and drugs. It happens so often. What a waste of talent :(
