I wish you had referred to Jimi's backstage radio interview, b y one "Jay Harvey" ..In that interview, Hendrix mentions that he was in town to pick up his newly repainted 1969 Corvette "It's been painted a metallic, metal-flake silver, it's really outtasight!", says Jimi. He then mentions that he might be interested in jamming with Delany and Bonnie..."although I just really came by to hear them, you know"". By the way, this is just about the last time we see Jimi wearing his hat! As you know, in early April he cut his hair quite short, began wearing Indian moccasins instead of boots, etc. Also, in those photos of Jimi onstage with Delany and Bonnie, you can see a bass player named Carl Radle--he was "stolen" later on, to play bass for Eric Clapton, and is the bass player on his famous album, Layla. Radle, Clapton, and others in that group became dependent on heroin a few months later. Radle died from drugs/alcohol in the later 1970s.

Good point. That we'll be for the updated version. Cheers!

I personally never heard him play better and more brutally intense than during the Spring tour of 1969… you could feel the insane genius and creative aggression within that band on the brink of collapse, and in Jimi’s guitar-playing.

For sure! Watchout for the next episode where we quote Carlos Santana in reference to the San Jose gig. Cheers!

Every new episode is as fascinating as the last! Anyone new here should go to the channel's homepage and start at the beginning.... This entire series needs to be saved in the Smithsonian.

Thanks so much. Mclaughlin has been my favorite Gtr player since my teens and love hearing much more about the jam they had and how it happened. The recording isn't too good but love the extra info about it.

10:35- Devon was probably among the crowd. I wonder if Jimi introduced Devon to Kathy at that time. I think in the late sixties early '70s the pimps in the states got their fashion sense from Hendrix or visa versa!
@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW6 ай бұрын
Great point! She would have been probably the highest ranking of the entourage. It has been suggested that she initially gave space, and Kathy stated that Devon would come and serve her and Jimi tea, while they were in bed together. Cheers

She was actually in a rather quick, intense relationship with Keith Richards, not too long after she spent the night with Hendrix!..There is a scene from a nasty documentary on the Stones, wherein we can see Keith shooting up drugs, and Uschi is naked, romping sexually with Keith on a bed!..KZbin actually carried that scene, but not lately.

@@curbozerboomer1773 I guess but switch it up. Not a fan of burly non-regional English accent. It drones on too much like monotone instead of across and across.
