I was sent home the first time I went to the ER with chest pains. Luckily 2 weeks later when I dissected and arrived at the hospital by ambulance, someone thought to do a CT scan. After a 12 hour surgery by an amazing surgeon. and 41 days in the hospital and a miracle, I lived. I went back to work after 5 months. Now I live a "normal" albeit different life. If you are still having chest pains REFUSE to take no for an answer and insist on that scan. There was a possibility at that point it could have been medically managed and I didn't have to go through all of the unbelievable pain and trauma of the surgery..
