CBS network Joker's Wild retired players who won one Joker's Jackpot(three games), and later retired players who hit $25K, as that was the network limit at the time(1972-75). Joker aired on WCBS from Sep 1981-Sep 1984. Tic Tac Dough was also on WCBS NYC in 1983-84, and they too had to tell a few players that season who won over $50K than they could only keep $50K, but they didn't retire any champions.

With exceptions of the tournament winners, who got yearly payments

@@witherblaze The payout for Rob Griffin was $25K a year for 10 years when he won the $250K in 1980($250K also was donated to charity in his game). He would have gotten his last payment sometime in 1989

@@zachhoran Say uh why did Tic Tac dough in 1983-84 had to limit people to $50,000?

Usually when one person is brought out at the beginning of the show, they start with the bonus game.

And because of this, Jack Barry started to shop TJW (and Tic Tac Dough) to NBC, which didn't have a cap on winnings at that time (and of which, "Hot Potato" became the first Barry & Enright on the NBC Television Network since the Quiz Show Scandals in the 1950s).

It's a good thing this situation didn't happen to Thom McGee on Tic Tac Dough several years prior.

Tic Tac dough didn't air on any CBS O&Os at the time, but did from April 1983-Summer 1984, when it aired on WCBS in NYC. Tic aired on WPIX in NYC and later WOR in NYC, and then Sep 1984-Sep 1986 back to WOR, along with Joker, which aired on WOR Sep 1977-Summer 1981, then WCBS for three years, then back to WOR Sep 1984-Sep 1986. Joker aired from Fall 1981-Summer 1984 on WCBS in NYC. Tic champions were told in 1983-84 they could only win $50K because of the CBS rules they had to abide by, but no Tic player ever retired undefeated. I believe Joe Dunn was the only player on syndicated Joker to retire undefeated during the time from Sep 1981-Summer 1984 when they were on WCBS and had to abide by CBS rules.
