Great special. Thank you for posting this. This also must be one of Charlie O'Donnell's very first announcing jobs for Barry & Enright, after Jay Stewart left.

These are two of my all-time favorites! Really take me back. I wonder if Jack and Wink ever switched shows for April Fools' Day! ;)

I wish I saw this on TV when it aired as I watched both shows growing up.

In the clip, Wink states that Secret Category was picked four times in a row, when we only saw three in the clip, so that means that the first SC pick (not shown) was missed, and it also implies that they missed another question beforehand in that particular game. And I already figured out beforehand that there were multiple tie games before this.

They most likely had a couple of tie games before, with scores of 1900 (full board) and 1700 (side box empty, with no possible win), for a total of 3600. Then in game three, the center "O" (300) and a corner "X" (200) brought the pot up to 4100....and then the drama begins...

Tubewings, I believe the $46,900 pot on Tic Tac Dough was won in December 1981 and the "Grand Question" replaced "Secret Category" in September 1983. By the way, what was Tom O'Connor's final grand total on Tic Tac Dough?

I don't think so. BTW, Barry & Enright's first major motion picture, "Private Lessons", was playing in theaters at the time this aired, and Jay Stewart's voice could be heard in the trailers and TV spots for the film.

@5:18 I like the way the set flashes during the bonus round win on "The Joker's Wild".

NYC kinda had something like this that same season. Joker leaving the RKO-owned station, but Tic Tac staying behind with Bullseye.

It aired at 7:30 PM on Sept. 18, 1981, the last day of their tenure on KHJ 9.

It would've been interesting to see how Thom would've done if he was on The Joker's Wild as well.

Jack mentioned a guest host....too bad Jim Peck didn't take over after Jack passed away. Would be nice if they brought back these two shows

Did anyone catch Jack Barry's mathematical error? He said the last gal got $130, when it was in fact $120.

1:15-3:11; I never knew there was a pot won between $36,800 (Thom McKee's record-winning pot) and $46,900 (won by Randy James, which has yet to be posted on the Tube). And they must have missed a "Secret Category" question before the "streak", since you couldn't double to $4,100 based on the values of the board ($200/outside box, $300/center box). I think after Tom O'Connor won $38,100, they were probably thinking of replacing "Secret Category" with "Grand Question".
