When this song came out, I was in a bad place mentally. Couldn’t understand why I gave my all to people and they always let me down. Then I heard this song with that bass line and that slumbering rhythm, then Lord the chiming of those angelic voices came in, and it was over. I started crying, me a grown man of 19, like a baby. It was a turning point for me, a spiritual cleanse if you will, to leave all these people behind, get up, move on, and start over. And to this day, at 61, These women have been a part of my story and will always love them for it. And Lord those voices. Thanks.

Antonio that's a great story and I can relate. We are the same age. At 19 I was just joining the Navy and was stationed in California during my time in the service. I had always been a fan of The Jones Girls since high school and always wanted to see them live. I got my wish when I was 21 and they performed at a New Years Eve bash in San Francisco. It was like listening to angels sing. I was like totally smitten and mesmerized. There will never be another female trio like The Jones Girls.

I loved this song even tho I was the one she didn't wanna leave but had to. I have regrets being that guy but i did learn from it. Karma is real and i got it all back and more. She was a great person and I pray she's doing well in life. I've changed for the better because of this song. Since i now KNOW what it feels like. Thank you "Jones Girls !"

@@rodneyplayer5785 I was also in the military (Army) at the time in Texas. I saw them during the tour to promote their 3rd Philly release. By this time I was in a better place in my life and could really appreciate their style and form of singing. My mother stated that they sound like Hummingbirds when they sing.

More than likely it was the guys who put them together, since that's who selected the members and wrote and produced their material. But... great observation. I totally hear it. Never thought about it before. If En Vogue covered this (which I would thoroughly enjoy), I think Cindy on lead would remind a lot of people of Shirley.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the song so much. I have it on a Promo white label 12" vinyl, and the commercial Disco 12" Vinyl. What a classic R&B / funky / soulful record. I fell out the first time I heard it. It reminds me of Mary Clark, "Take Me I'm Yours". If you have not heard that before, you MUST check it out. It was produced by the golden ear of Patrick Adams in 1980. Sadly, it did not receive the proper promotion it deserved. It was rumored (From Dimitri From Paris) That LaShawn Records, (Amongst many small labels) were in fact fronts for big drug businesses. So, they were not concerned about the artist or their product. Such incredible, extraordinary soulful music. This is Mary Clark, "Take Me I'm Yours": kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppulYoSBaZitrq8
