Jordan Peterson is one of the most controversial figures of our time. People hate him and others love him. Regardless of what you think of his political perspectives, maybe God is trying to get his attention, as well as yours and mine.

You are right. He has shared his belief in Christ so he has taken big steps in his journey and I hope that he continues on his journey...even as some will focus not on his journey but on an outcome which can become a rabbit trail of legalism and judgmentalism that misses the way the Holy Spirit is clearly working on his heart.

The point about malevolence opening one’s eyes is not so much that it causes a moral reaction from within against the malevolence, but there’s an opening of one’s eyes to the immorality within. The scales coming off one’s eyes has to do one’s perceiving oneself.

Thanks be to God that he still is searching and knows who he needs to call out. As Secular as this may seem it may be the very instrument to take a non believer to become a believer. Avenues we may never agree with or suspect. God bless.

I viewed this curious to see if Ty was being inconsistent with his own teachings - namely, I was hoping Ty was not engaging in that form of Christianity which defines itself mostly by what it is against. There is a pattern of popular Christian personalities online using their platform to judge other Christian personalities and popular personalities in general. Thanks for tackling this subject with hope and grace Ty.

I've heard hundreds of hours of JP lectures and interviews but never heard him utter the words "I don't believe in God" he always says "Depends on what you mean by believe and depends on what you mean by God" his speech in Sydney in response to the question "Do you believe in God is astounding and he believes his wife to be prophetic and she attends Christian church" I think he just refuses to align with any denomination religion because he doesn't agree with ideological divisions in society. His lectures on the Bible are amazing!!

I believe this 💯% I really think the purpose of christianity is to provide those the Lord knows are His a revelation if Himself, so that 1. They can meet the One who they worship and not lose what they have. 2. So that influence can turn people who are not saved to righteousness. At least these two reasons.

I will always agree God is pursuing us. I will always agree God is pursuing people we don't like or agree with, including Jordan Peterson. I can easily agree that God is pursuing people in the secular realm. I question building a sermon on quotes from one person in that realm, particularly one who is known as "controversial," especially if the reasons WHY he is controversial are not explained. I could understand using illustrations and quotes from a variety of secular, "controversial" figures, in the context that God is pursuing even the most unlikely people. But building an entire sermon on one man's quotes seems to elevate that man's teaching, even if it's not the intended consequence. Especially when many may not understand why he is such a divisive figure. I am well acquainted with the "don't judge" texts. I often quote Paul's directive to judge those inside the church, not outside. But there is also the reminder that we know people by the fruits of their lives, and Peterson is known by some as a gateway for alt-right thinking, and I would recommend a look at this article from The Guardian for balance: www.theguardian.com/science/2018/feb/07/how-dangerous-is-jordan-b-peterson-the-rightwing-professor-who-hit-a-hornets-nest
@FOTAP97
@FOTAP97 3 жыл бұрын
I would simply say that to the contrary, the “some” that “know” JP as “a gateway for alt-right thinking” are precisely those who either haven’t actually listened to him carefully, or have no intention of handling him truthfully in the first instance. They have merely revealed themselves by attempting to label him for the purpose of negating him. Regardless of the ease with which mis-characterizations may be tossed about, there is nothing alt-right about Jordan Peterson.

It was more of an analyses, under a Christian lens, of a person rising in the ranks of a controversial and social influence. And, throwing up Pauls directive seems nothing more than "reassuring statement"

It matters! And it’s not a thing that you should get offended of. We should be explicit because SDA has the ultimate truth! Every church claims they have the truth, that’s why to me it matters to explicitly say if a channel is Seventh day Adventist. And people are looking for channels of SDAs. My friend is a non Adventist not yet converted and she always looks for Seventh day Adventist channels. She ask me if this one is! So if you are an Adventist? You don’t sound it.

Jesus bears this message out thoroughly in His parable of how He will judge the nations, in Matthew 25: 31-46. It is the closest we can come to a standard of righteousness. We cannot judge on our own who is righteous. We can only be true to God by treating every person we meet with respect, remembering, with humility, that we are all sinners.

Why is that why is it that it seems like looking at the surface it may appear apparent that Mr Peterson does not believe in God that is because if he comes out clearly as clear follower of Christ then the majority of his audience might tune hime out. So he put people in a path of Christ by letting them go through a serious question about Chirst so people may discover Christ the way he does.

Works did generate salvation. Jesus did works of love which gave us the opportunity to be saved. We respond with works of love which gives us salvation. What we do determines whether we are saved, as long as we are motivated by love to do good works and not by selfishness without love.

Peterson is an apologist for so-called Western values. Though he invokes the Bible, I do not recognize the Gospel in his work. We mustn't confuse calls for self-discipline as the invitation to receive the Grace of God, freely offered and abundantly bestowed on all who trust, not theories or principles, but Christ. Truth, according to Scripture, is a Person, even the God-Man Christ Jesus. ✝️

Thousands of slave holders in America had no pangs of conscience about their treatment of slaves. The fact is, conscience is not always the voice of God. Oftentimes it's a cultural conditioning or worldview that tells us what is valued in our society. When we go against our worldview, we suffer psychologically and in other ways. That doesn't mean our conscience is a dependable measure of right or wrong. So, to the extent that JP has learned real truths from the Bible, I of course agree, but he gets so much wrong and does it with such superficial profundity and he is so persuasive, I have decided to take everything he says with a generous helping of salt, and I keep my distance from his fan club. Some of what I've seen in his followers honestly looks like a cult following, which is disconcerting.

What exactly is your point? Are you spruiking Jordan Peterson and if so, why? Shouldn't you be preaching Jesus Christ? You are a person of some influence, so for you to devote 43 minutes of blowing JP's trumpet and placing it on KZbin is going to have an influence on many people, especially young minds. And when you are about to pray, please invite the viewer rather than just start praying, because it comes across as a bit casual and controlling. Tread carefully, Ty, for the devil lurks nearby.
