Hi Kris, I was at asiaBSDcon 2014 and 2016, still running the same homelab (free)truenas install since 2013 quite an awesone and undestructible tech ! Nice to see this new podcast !

Nice! I probably ran into you at one or both of those events, glad to hear you are still running it! Although hopefully you have upgraded to TrueNAS at this point and not running that old of code ;)

As Kris says, both he and HoneyBadger are often EXTREMELY helpful in the forums, able to help users when the expertise of other community members runs out.

I just tried the AI Search and asked about layouts for 12x 12TB drives and the answer seemed pretty spot on (not recommending RAIDZ1). And when I asked a follow-up question on why not RAIDZ1, again the answer was pretty sensible.

Glad to hear! If you see dodgy responses it usually means we are missing something in our public facing technical materials and we work to get those addressed quickly.

Hi guys, is Clustering dead, or is that in the roadmap?

Not something we're ready to put on the public roadmap yet, but not given up!

Very nice first episode, subscribed. But oh boy did you play down the massive space reporting issues with raidz expandtions. I really don't see how this can be ignored and moving from RC to RELEASE with this issue still lingering, seems like a major fault IMO, anyone planning to use the feature should read the forum treads and seriously consider not doing it .... yes new feature is so broken that it shouldn't be used at the moment

Yes and no. I agree it is massively annoying, but as our investigation has shown, the space is really there and working properly, even if the reporting shows an incorrect value. That makes it a highly visible annoyance, but not functionality impacting. Worth a more in-detail mention in our next episode though, we'll highlight that for everybody. Once it gets fixed in ZFS upstream we will of course bring that fix in for everybody.
